You do have to get used to pulling them through the hole to not unhook your fish, but overall a great lure, I have better hook ups with the this style over the original. Just be careful when bringing up the hole, end hooks can catch on side of hole Caught two perch at once on this lure this year, that was fun :-).

Comments: Biggest complain is this lure is not balanced at the knot so it hangs back, not level or slightly forward like the original jigging rap. But I have had luck with it when perch and bass are active and hungry. Not something I would use when fish need to be coaxed into biting. Totally encased in plastic so paint doesn't chip like the original.

Comments: The shad rap is a good lure to use for perch, walleye, and bass when the fish are aggressive and looking for a bigger meal. It does catch fish in my experience, but it is not a lure for finesse presentation. My biggest issue with this lure is it's not balanced from the top eyelet like the original jigging rap - the head of this one always tilts up no matter how the knot is tied. I prefer the jigging rap because you can tilt the head up or down, or keep it level based on how you position the knot, and this does affect the number of hits if the fish are skittish. But this is a well made lure for the right situation.

Comments: I love these jigging raps but I found that clipping off the front and rear hooks and putting on a larger treble increase my hook ups.

Comments: Great for walleye and perch. Wider, more buoyant body allows a slower drop than the regular jigging minnow, allowing for more control.

Comments: Gave this lure a test for Lake trout just before ice-out. With the treble hook baited with a strip of perch meat I had both good sized Rainbows and Lakers hitting regularly. I like this lure!

Comments: This is something that fish have not seen a lot of yet. It works for vertical jigging as you would expect but try ripping them horizontally on shallow flats while trolling around 1 to 1.5 MPH. It is a great way to trigger hits during the open water seasons.

Comments: Always have a couple of these on hand. Perfect when it gets really hot through the heat of the day and the Aussie Bass school up and hold in the thermoclines. Tip - Just make sure you have the drag set correctly as the Bass will hit hard !!!

Comments: The Rapala Jigging Shad Rap is an excellent bait for walleyes when coupled with live or cut bait. My only complaint is that the treble hook is just a little too small. I removed and replaced them with slightly larger hooks.

Comments: I use these jigs throughout the year. I have caught Walleye, Smallmouth, Largemouth and Brim ranging from 15' to 80' deep. I have never used them for ice fishing because our lakes don't freeze here in North Carolina but they work great on suspending fish.

Comments: I use the Shad Rap to jig while ice fishing. My flasher clearly shows that fish will come up from the bottom a long way to check out the Rap. Splake and landlocks don't hesitate to slam it. Somedays the perch require a live grub or two on the treble hooks to get them to bite. It attracts fish from a long ways away and holds them well once they bite.
