Been ice fishing for over 40yrs, Been there and thought I knew more than what I actually know (from prior model)
Pros: number of holes drilled on only one battery charge, light weight, surprisingly fast, ease of use, (my wife can drill holes) too many plusses to write
Cons: Battery cant handle cold, must be kept warm in pocket or shelter.
Best Uses: Drillin, Drilling many holes
Comments: I brought this auger with the intent on taking it out and destroying it and returning it to get a 'real' one. My old Eskimo's 2 cycle auger's carb crapped the bed once again and didn't have time to wait on parts. My wife and I set out to do a few hours of ice fishing and when I drilled my first hole I thought it wasn't possible that it drilled like that. When drilled the 2nd hole, I was tremendously surprised. And then the most incredible thing happened, my wife drill her first hole EVER! We were sold! That was awhile back and have since bought a 10" one with reverse, and kept the old one for fast pan fishing outings.. I highly recommend this auger. I have accessories to make our outings easy such as the quick change coupler, I use the stake tool to put in stakes to keep my tent secure and spare batteries(which I keep in the tent)and the extensions (which came with both augers.) And just an FYI, we live in Maine so we get some serious ice here. I've drilled thru 20+ inches of ice.

Best I have owned (from prior model)
Pros: lightweight, No oil no gas n always ready to go
Comments: I am 57 years old and this is my forth ice auger in my life time. It is awesome. I live in Connecticut and was told about this from a pro in Minnesota. I figured if it worked out there it was worth a try here. It is light, no mix, no smell and very quiet. When one is cutting a hole, the only thing you hear is the shredding of ice. Can't go wrong with this.

light, fast, joy to run   (from prior model)
Pros: fast, light weight, quiet
Cons: must be kept warm in pocket or shelter.
Best Uses:
Comments: This my first ice auger, mainly because of the weight is the reason I bought it and really like it so far. Drills thru 20" of ice with no problems quietly! I do keep the battery warm in my coveralls when not using and charge it each night. It was a good choice in getting and ice auger. Price wise? Look at the price of the top of the line augers out there and they run the same cost plus gas, noise, weight. It was a no brainer for me.

So far so good    (from prior model)
Pros: No oil no gas n always ready to go
Best Uses:
Comments: Just bought a few weeks ago. I live in Maine and get to ice fish a lot. Had a jiffy for years and was just sick and tired of mixing gas and pulling the cord several times and smelling of gas. Ion cuts great no sound no gas no oil. I can put it inside my truck now with no worries of gas getting inside now. Haven't seen a bad review yet of this. It's the future and it should be since its very environmentally friendly to our lakes. Love this auger, so far so good. Fish USA was very helpful too. Thanks.

Smooth operation   (from prior model)
Pros: great cutting, fast, and lightweight
Best Uses: Drills lots of holes., If pulling out by hand and foot, this is the one to have.
Comments: What a cutting machine. We haven't had ice thicker than 6" yet this season, but my Ion has been fantastic cutting holes. It's lightweight and very powerful. My old strikemaster electra 12000 cant compare with this one. I can get 50X the number of holes with the Ion as i got with the other electric. I believe the Ion is the auger of the future and most ice guys will eventually go to them.

Love it, but... (from prior model)
Pros: Lightweight, powerful, doesn't bind up in bottom of hole, battery charges quickly
Cons: My blade began to dull after 100 holes
Comments: As I've gotten older, weight and ease of operation have become more important. In this regard the Ion electric is incredible. I'm once again actually scouting fish by drilling a lot of holes until I find them because it is now so easy. The only issue I have is that the blade seems to be getting dull. I've only drilled about 50 holes. It no longer grabs the ice and drills the hole without putting my weight on it like it first did. I couldn't find anywhere in the Battle Lake, Mn area that stocked replacement blades. I don't know if it can be sharpened but would think that it should remain sharper longer. Maybe a blade made out of harder steel would help. I would gladly pay the higher price if it were available. All in all, I'm very impressed, but will buy a couple of sets of blades before my next ice fishing outing.

Great So Far...  (from prior model)
Pros: quiet, fast, EASY on the shoulders!!
Best Uses: stiring paint....
Comments: Love this auger so far, drilled 15 holes in 8" of ice Saturday, battery still showed fully charged. I don't leave the battery at camp, bring it home and keep it in the house, says it will shorten life when stored below 7F and it's going to 20 below at camp this week. Drilling holes is SO easy now and quiet also.

Totally awesome auger (from prior model)
Pros: light weight, Really fast, battery life, Just totally suprising performance
Best Uses: Drilling many holes, catching many fish
Comments: I have been ice fishing for 30+ and have an old eskimo auger probably that old,and every year I would get that auger out and fix what needed fixing, spark plus, carb needing diaphram and smelling to high heaven of gas.Again, same story this year, get it out try get running, needed carb fixed, would run with choke partially closed, take carb off,gas smell all over, and my lovely wife says"let go see what is out there." Go to LLBean, looked at augers and they have many jiffy augers but I wasn't sold on those.I spied this Ion battery auger and had to even ask what it was !!! I said,SERIOUSLY !!! As many of you know their policy is if you don't like it,blah blah blah ! So in my mind,I was going to take it out, drill hole and return it to prove it was a joke.! Well, let me tell you that this thing kicks butt!!!I totally shocked me !! It's light,it's fast, seems very sturdy,(might not last 30 years like my ol eskimo)but whew! This thing rocks!! welcome to the 21st century !!! Ice fishing made easy this year... Real easy! My wife can use it ! Can't wait to get the granson out and let them go at it! Bring on the Ice Derby's!!!!

Silky smooth.   (from prior model)
Pros: light weight, clean, quiet, surprisingly fast
Comments: No more mixing gas, no gasoline spills and smells, no worries about starting, and light weight handling to boot! This is the way to go if you care to spend the money. Strange to hear the ice cutting instead of a motor screaming. Passers-by sure took notice as well.

Best Ice Auger Ever!!  (from prior model)
Pros: ease of use, no gas, no worry about starting, number of holes drilled on only one battery charge, Awesomeness
Comments: The auger drills a perfect hole every time with no gas smell or jerking. The ice piles up without throwing it all over the floor of the fish house. It drills very fast. My husband loves it and I can use it too! I could never start the gas auger. That is a big plus for us!

I love this ion electric auger   (from prior model)
Comments: I tried out my new ion ice auger today. It worked like a champ and cut thru the ice very quickly without stalling even when breaking thru. It is very light wight and easy to carry around. And as you would expect it is very quiet. It seems very well constructed and rugged enough. The batteries work well. I would recommend you get a spare battery. I think it is a stretch to say it will drill 40 holes in ice two feet thick. I got 35 holes in about 10 inches of ice. If you like to search for your fish and drill lots of holes get a second battery. Jim
