Specific Rod DetailsBack to top

NRX 144/6-4 FLY G - At 12' 0" for #5/6 line, (360 grain Scandi - 400 grain Skagit), this rod is at the very light end of the spey rod range. Some may call this a Switch rod, but it's right on the edge so it's up to the individual angler, your skill level. It is a joy to cast most summer time patterns with floating lines and can handle Skagit heads if you need to dredge the bottom, with 10 grains per foot tips. It is ideal for summer steelhead, but if a big B-run grabs hold, you still have enough power to even the odds.

NRX 1686/7-4 FLY G - Dry flies for steelhead at long range? Long leaders and little bombers for Atlantics? Looking for the big rod that does not overwhelm smaller fish, but has what it takes to deliver major casts, this 14' 6/7 is what you have been searching for. It is especially sweet casting mid-belly or long belly lines rated 6/7. For Scandi casting we'd recommend 28 grams/450grains head weight. It has a progressive taper, and does not bottom out if heavier lines are used. Reach out and touch something with this specialty long and light rod. Something with scales.

NRX 1567/8-4 FLY G - This positive action 13', #7/8 (480 grain Scandi- 520 grain Skagit head), loves to push long casts using integrated short-head floating lines such as Windcutter II, Delta Short,or SA Spey Evolution. It really shines using Scandi and Skagit (short/compact length head) and monofilament running line. It will manage all but the most heavily weighted winter patterns, with plenty of backbone to pop a cast through rain and wind. It is ideal rod for NW steelhead, and smaller Atlantic salmon applications. A light rod for all seasons.

NRX 1568/9-4 FLY G - A smooth, powerful casting 13-footer rated for an 8/9 Scandi head. At 500 grains, it loads perfectly and makes tight narrow loops using the under hand cast. At 550 grains with the Skagit method, it will manage all the necessary tips - full sinking, intermediate or floating. We dual rate them in both grams and grains for our worldwide market. While it casts short Scandi-style heads exceptionally well, it's more than capable of handling a wide variety of casting strokes given the proper lines. A wonderful choice for medium to large rivers, it is capable of casting big, weighted flies if necessary to get down in those deep pockets where salmon and steelhead rest on their migratory journey. With NRX, you have unbelievable power and line control in a rod so light it's hard to believe.

NRX 1688/9-4 FLY G - 14 feet of power and grace. This rod is effortless at 80 feet with floating lines and any surface or near surface fly you care to dangle in the face of Mr. Salmonid. Size 8/9 mid-belly or long-belly taper with head weight of approximately 40 grams/600 grains at end of head, makes the operation of casting magic. Scandi heads can be used at 36 grams and add a few more grams for Skagit heads and heavy tips, if the need for bottom sweeping coverage is the ticket to success.

NRX 1689/10-4 FLY G - As two-handers get longer, it's a given casting distance increases. The beauty of this great all-around 14-foot 9/10 is the NRX dynamics - insanely light, extraordinary power – so much so it feels like a rod much shorter. It's totally capable of handling heavier heads and is sneaky quick - a bonus when you want to turn over big, weighted flies. Big winter steelhead won't go far to chase down a fly – to put it right in their face, accuracy and line control is everything. Anglers swinging big tube flies on swift Nordic rivers will appreciate the power. Again we dual rate them in both grams and grains for our worldwide market.

NRX 1509/10-4 G Scandi - A 12' 6" power-house, Scandi-casters dream stick. Though shorter in stature, it packs a punch to handle big lines and big flies. Well suited to hard running rivers of Norway, with powerful fish fresh from the sea, it is still amazingly light feeling with far less swing-weight than most 13 or 14-foot, light-action spey rods. If you need a wind tamer for the Rio Grande, consider this as a rod that can deliver the goods. Not every angler's cup of tea, but just the ticket when you need something more potent.

NRX 18010/11-4 FLY G - When maximum distance is the goal this will be the rod you want. Even in tough conditions - wind, rain, high water - you need a big rod, but one that won't wear you out. This rod that can cover the water, control the swing and still be manageable. It's hard to imagine a 15-foot 10/11-rod that can be characterized as manageable, but this one does all that and more. Again, thanks to NRX technology, this is the biggest, lightest, most powerful two-hander we've made - unbelievable line control, capable of handling long 45' heads as well as large, air-resistant tube flies on the big rivers of Scandinavia, plus total coverage in the deep, fast runs these fish call home.
