On my second pair of leaky Hellbenders (from prior model)
Pros: Cheap, light weight
Cons: Cheaply made, neoprene boot will leak, upper tears easily
Best Uses: Fishing less than 12 days out of the year.
Comments: My first pair of Hellbenders lasted about 20 uses until I got a leak in the left neoprene boot. I sent them back to Frogg Toggs and they sent me a new pair, this time the Hellbender II. I’ve used the second pair about 20 times and again I have a leak in the right neoprene boot, this time worse than the first time! 30 minutes in the water and my foot is soaked. I will be returning them and asking Frogg Toggs for my money back or for a better product that is of standard durability. DO NOT BUY THESE.

Trapped in them! (from prior model)
Pros: nice
Cons: ankle hole too small
Best Uses: water
Comments: I could not get my feet past the ankle opening. I'm just an average sized guy, size 9 foot.. Once I got my foot in, I thought I was going to have to cut the darn things off to get them off. bummer.. had to return.... Thanks Fishusa for a prompt return

Good value   (from prior model)
Pros: well made and durable, No leaks, fit is good, Easy To Take On And Off
Best Uses: shallow wading
Comments: Took these out for a gear check today before a trout fishing trip to North Carolina. I'm 5'5', 34" waist, 29" inseam with a little extra weight around the middle. These size small waders fit comfortably over a pair of jeans. No leaks in just over an hour of wading up to 3' of water. I wear size 7.5 boots and the neoprene foot was just right. It should stretch enough for up to size 9.

Great So Far   (from prior model)
Pros: Lightweight, well made and durable, Cooler than chest waders, Attached gravel guards, Dries Quickly, Easy To Take On And Off, Very comfortable to wear
Cons: Nothing so far
Best Uses:
Comments: These waist high waders are light, comfortable, well made and most importantly, dry. They also look good and the feet seem well made with no uncomfortable, bulky seams. The built in gravel guards keep out all debris and stay put. I would personally never go back to chest waders after using the waist highs. An overall good value. Fish USA has the best price, service, and fast delivery.

So far,so good   (from prior model)
Pros: Go on quickly
Cons: Booties challenging to get off of size 13 foot
Best Uses:
Comments: Used them one time. No structural problems.- in other words no leaks, and the belt was able to hold up my wading stick case.My only issue with this product is sizing. My shoe size is 13. When putting these waders ON no problem. Taking OFF the boot part of the waders is a bit of a pain, but i figured out a way to do it .Bottom line here is that I like that it is way easier to take a stream side "relief" with wading pants than it is with chest waders ( unless u are willing to buy($$$) the waders with a front zipper). So- I would have liked the option to purchase the same size pants with larger booties. But these are doable and so far I'm otherwise very happy with my choice.

Frogg Toggs Hellbender Breathable Stockingfoot Guide Pant   (from prior model)
Pros: Look great, fit is good, price, Lightweight, boot is good fit, Attached gravel guards
Cons: Not Breathable
Best Uses: winter time kayak fishing, Kayak fishing, shallow wading
Comments: These things are great and get the job done. I'm not sure what they mean by breathable. When you put the pants on and sit down they blow up like a hot air balloon and youlook like something out of a cartoon. The only real way to change this is to leave the belt very very loose and stand in the water then tighten the belt. I use them for Kayak fishing and I'm sure during the colder weather they will be exactly what I need.

Frogg Toggs Breathable Stockingfoot Wader Pants   (from prior model)
Pros: well made and durable, Very comfortable to wear, Cooler than chest waders, Easy To Take On And Off, A Fishermans Must Have
Best Uses: Small river or stream fishing, Wading on hot days, Fly Fishing, Freshwater Fishing
Comments: I ordered the wading pants after realizing I never really wade deep enough to require a chest wader. The length of chest waders made it a struggle to put on and takeoff. The pants arrived less than a week after ordering it. Used it right away on a weekend fishing trip and enjoyed the comfort it afforded. Since my kind of fishing require driving from one fishing hole to another, the wader pants did not require taking it off while driving. The Pants were very sturdy, thick fabric yet breathable. I even used it without an under wader liner insulating pants and felt perfectly comfortable. The fit was excellent if you follow the instructions carefully in selecting your size. The price was a bargain compared to other similar products with the same quality. I highly recommend this product if you need a wader for those warmer days on the water.

not for colder weather   (from prior model)
Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Breathable, boot is good fit, price
Cons: hard to take off
Comments: for my inseam i had to order small so they weren't real baggy. found that i won't be able to wear fleece underneath so these are definitly not for colder water to wade too deep in. they fit my frame well and appear to be well constucted. tight around the ankles. they had a rough going in the mountains streams in NW North Carolina, were comfortable and held up. good price compared to other waist highs i've tried or seen.

well made and comfortable   (from prior model)
Pros: well made and durable
Comments: Just got and used once...Very well made and I think durable.Fished that day with my cousin who had a new pair of Bean pants waders that I thought no better and $30 more.....As to size I wear a 12 shoe but have a 32" inseam so felt best to order large...the foot size is perfect but would have preferred the med inseam..This is always a problem for me but is most impt to have adequate foot size and actually after having them on a bit I was unaware of them being a bit long in the leg...I suggest when you order make sure you do not get too small a foot size as there is no give in a neoprene bootie...I think the foot size they give on the charting info is accurate as the large says up to 11.5 and my 12 foot fit it well with perhaps a half size to spare....

frogg toggs guide pant / wading pants   (from prior model)
Pros: price, fit is good
Best Uses: shallow wading, winter time kayak fishing
Comments: I bought these guide pants to use in Tampa Bay flats (mild winters) used them twice now absolutely perfect matched with som walmart waterproof hiking boots these were perfect to help me stalk the backcountry ,I like these as opposed to chest waders as I am in and out of a kayak all day long worked great no leaks and I will probably buy a second pair as a back up for when the inevitable happens as for longivity we will see if I can get 2 or 3 winters out of these then it was money well spent as other name brands were much more expensive and i am not sure if quality could be that much better , you would probably be happy as i am buying these good luck, tight lines.

Really Great Waders!   (from prior model)
Pros: Lightweight, Easy To Take On And Off, Attached gravel guards, Very comfortable to wear, A Fishermans Must Have
Best Uses: Small river or stream fishing
Comments: I recently purchased a pair of these, and I have to say they are the best waders I have ever had. I'm 67 years old and way past the deep water stuff, so the waist-highs are perfect for me. I'm a pretty average guy - 6' tall, 170 lbs, 31-inch inseam and size 10 shoe. The "medium" fits me perfectly. The neoprene bootie and built-in gravel guard work really good together. These waders are very comfortable for both walking and wading, and are easy to get on and off. I highly recommend them - out of 5 stars, I give them a 10!

Hellbender Guide Pants   (from prior model)
Pros: size, quality, boot is good fit
Comments: I recently purchased the Hellbender Guide Pants. I take a size 11 shoe and followed the guide for ordering the correct size. The pants I got fit very nicely in both the waist and the stocking foot. I use size 11 wading shoes which normally require a couple of pairs of heavy sock to fill out. The neoprene boot takes up enough space so that I only need to wear one pair of socks. The inseam was longer than my regular pants however, this allowed for more room to stretch. I'm very pleased with this product and really liked the price. Highly recommended.

Love waist-high waders   (from prior model)
Pros: Tough Material, Breathable, Easy To Take On And Off, Good Footing, Dries Quickly
Best Uses: Freshwater Fishing, Fly Fishing
Comments: I love waist high waders. They are very easy to get on and off. I am 5'10" ~165lbs. I wear a size 10 shoe. I bought the size Large and it fits just fine. There is enough room in the waist for someone a bit larger as well, but maybe not as much room for much larger feet. Get some nice boots like korkers with the BOA lacing system - they are easy on and off and reduce wear on your waders around the ankle/heel.

Love waist-high waders   (from prior model)
Pros: Good Footing, Easy To Take On And Off, No leaks, Breathable
Best Uses: Fly Fishing
Comments: I really like these waders. I would always roll down my chest waders because I suspenders/shoulder straps are very uncomfortable for me. And I never wade that deep anyway. I love these waist-high waders. They have so far held up better than my chest waders which I retired because I had to repair leaks too many times. These have yet to get any leaks. They are very comfortable and are like putting on a pair of pants. Don't cheap out on your boots. Get some really nice boots (BOA system Korkers) that go on really easy. I believe this eliminated the wear that I had on my old waders. If the boots go on really easy, that's less wear on the waders. My old boots were a tight fit and it was a chore getting them on - eventually wore on the waders and created leaks in the heels/ankles from rubbing so hard trying to get them off and on.For [$] these waders have been well worth the money. Lasted me one season so far (longer than my last pair) and look like they will last me more seasons to come.I am 5'10" between 160lb and 170lb, size 10 shoe. I bought the Large and it was the perfect size for me. They should be good for someone slightly larger as well. Plenty more room in the waist - not as much more in the foot, but there is some. Love the built-in waist belt too.

great waders at a great price   (from prior model)
Pros: Cooler than chest waders, Dries Quickly, Easy To Take On And Off, Tough Material
Cons: Foot size vs waist size
Best Uses: Wading shallow streams, Wading on hot days
Comments: These are great waders. My only issue is the foot sizing relative to waist sizing. To get foot size 11 I need to gain 50lbs in my waist. I wish there was a normal waist size for larger foot sizes. Just because a guy has big feet doesnt mean he must also be fat.

Pros: Dries Quickly, Tough Material, Breathable, Easy To Take On And Off

Comments: I use the for Steelhead fishing in north eastern Ohio. I have fished for years, but am new to this sport and to fly fishing. The water just runs off these. Pros: Attached gravel guards, Easy To Take On And Off, Breathable

Best Uses: Cold Water, Fly Fishing, Trout fishung
Comments: I use these with thermals underneath, so I ordered next size up. If you take diuretics you will appreciate the fact that you can pee without leaving the stream. I haven't had them long, but they held up to a week of fishing Mountain streams and see no reason why they shouldn't hold up to a lot more week long trips to the Mountains.

Comments: I used these waders for fishing streams and also with my Dave Scadden outlaw escape pontoon boat. They are light, comfortable, tough and affordable. Better then most higher end waders but without the outrages cost.

Good cold weather kayak wader   (from prior model)
Pros: Easy To Take On And Off, Tough Material
Comments: Bought these for a cold-weather kayak pant in my sit-on-top kayak. I am 5'9" and about 215, size 11 shoe, and they fit very well. The material has a good weight--not too bulky but substantial. They are not baggy on me but fit nicely over a pair of fleece pants. The stocking feet are about right--would be too tight on a foot much larger than mine. The belt works well. I use them with a pair of Crocs for shoes. I have used them 3-4 times now; no problems.

great waders (from prior model)
Pros: Tough Material, Breathable, Good Footing, Easy To Take On And Off, Dries Quickly
Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Cold Water
Comments: I mainly flyfish for trout, in pa, in a lot of small, cold water streams, where chest waders aren't necessary. They're very comfortable and warm. I just recently fished a small spring creek in 39 degree water. With a pair of sweatpants and wool socks underneath, I didn't feel cold once (til' I stuck my hands in the water). They may be a touch oversized. But, I don't like my waders to be a tight fit. Even with a pair of sweatpants underneath, they're a little baggy. Which to me, is about perfect. But, if you want your waders to fit like regular pants, go down a size. The length of the feet feel true to size. The width could be a touch wider. They're not too tight, just snug. Not really a complaint, just the only thing I could find that could possibly be improved.I haven't had them very long. So, I can't comment on durability. But, they seem tough, and look and feel like they would last. Overall, this is a great wader. There aren't many pant waders available. Most of the ones you'll see are $300 - $400. These would hold there own with any of them, no matter the price. But, for [$], you can't beat it. This is one of those buys where you buy a few, to keep on stock, just in case.

wonderful for kayaing  (from prior model)
Pros: Good Footing, Dries Quickly, Breathable
Comments: My husband uses the waders for kayaking since he often gets out of the boat in cold water to move or remove branches that obstruct the river. They are comfortable and work very well for this purpose. They cost significantly less than similar products, and so far, we have had no problems with them. I worried that they would be more fragile than the more expensive product, but so far this does not seem to be so.

Pros: Dries Quickly, Good Footing, Easy To Take On And Off, Tough Material, Breathable
Comments: Bought these for trout fishing, can't stand fooling with suspender waders and seldom go in over my waist anyways, but WOW! FYI, I did a little research and FISHUSA had the best price on them. Pros: Good Footing, Easy To Take On And Off, Dries Quickly, Breathable, Tough Material
Best Uses: Cold Water, Freshwater Fishing, Fly Fishing
Comments: these waders are awesome and they look very good, not too loose and not too close to skin. The materials seems very durable. I dont think it can be beat for the price. I use them for fly fishing in canada and the color is perfect for our brown rivers.

Sasquatch Size Feet (from prior model)
Pros: Easy To Take On And Off
Cons: Poor Footing
Best Uses: Freshwater Fishing, Fly Fishing
Comments: I'm 5'8" 150#'s, size 7.5 shoe, ordered the medium, which is a bit baggy but fits my inseam. However, the feet are so huge I'd have to roll up excess material at toe and jam it and my foot into my wading shoes. I'm hard core, like to start at daylight and come off stream at darkthirty and I can't imagine walking around all day with that rig in my shoe! Great idea, the pants, protection of waders without all the trouble of suspenders/bibs-if you wade some of the creeks I fish (Oconaluftee/Tuckasegee) above your waist, you'd be washed down stream in a heart beat anyways. If you have large feet you'll probably love these wading pants but I deducted 2 stars out of frustration. I was hoping that these would fit! Guess its back to Daisy Dukes and Tennessee shoes. Am I the only trout fisherman with small feet? From the all waders I've tried, most trout fisherman must have feet the size of a Canadian Sasquatch?

Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Saltwater Fishing, Kayak fishing, Freshwater Fishing
Comments: Wading the flats of lower Tampa bay and kayaking with full chest waders can get toasty. These pant waders were the ticket. So far they are light weight, dry and comfortable. Frogg toggs did a nice job.

Great!!! (from prior model)
Pros: Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Nothing so far
Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Freshwater Fishing
Comments: I'm a fly fishing guide in southwest Arkansas and use them for myself and for clients who have no gear. So far they have held up to MY use with no problems at all. I much prefer the waist high versions for the convenience and they are cool on the upper body when it starts to get warm! The breathable material is comfortable, easy to get on and off and I've had no seam problems at all in nearly a full season of fishing now. Other breathables, that cost just a bit more, didn't last so well... I've got three sets now in XL, L and M and plan to go to them exclusively!

Considering shoe size, I would have to have xl or 2xl. Question is would you recommend these wader for someone with large calves?

Breathable waders are always a better choice for anglers with large calves, and we recommend the larger of the two sizes. All waders can be returned for exchange if they are not worn outside.

Based on only your shoe size, we would suggest a size Large. However, without your inseam or waste size we cannot say that for certain. Please determine your inseam and waste size and reference the sizing chart for the most accurate option.

The medium or large will work for you, but we would suggest the large. These tend to fit snug on the ankles, and the large will allow for more room/comfort.

It's because of the gravel guards it makes them tight. They will stretch a bit over time.

I wear a size 9 boot with a 34 waist. Which size should I get? Do they waders do well on hot summer days or will it make me sweat to death?
