The Hendrickson Dry Fly - 2 Pack is created for you to take part in this legendary mayfly hatch that is synonymous with fly fishing. When temperatures in the water reach 50 degrees, Hendrickson flies start to come off of the water. The Ephemerella subvaria herald full-blown mayfly hatches on Eastern and Midwestern trout waters, starting in southern Pennsylvania in early April, climbing to a peak in the Catskills by mid-May, and as one goes north even into early June hatches happen in areas such as Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This pattern is a variant of a Dark Hendrickson pattern, the male of the species which makes its appearance before the female. Hendrickson duns take a long while to rise off of the water, and trout love them for it. Any fly box in the East and Midwest is incomplete without selections from this Hendrickson Dry Fly - 2 Pack!
- Use for brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, and others
- Mimics the mayfly Ephemerella subvaria, and the pattern was first tied in 1916 to imitate this hatch on the famous Beaverkill River outside of Roscoe, NY; the fly can be used as an attractor for other mayfly hatches
- Technique: the time-honored convention is to fish a Hendrickson Dry Fly selection on wet and/or cloudy days, yet don't let that stop you from using them on warm or sunny days either; hatches tend to materialize in the mid-afternoon on calm waters and last about an hour; duns float a long time on the water before they dry enough to take wing; get a good float without drag
