puts holes in ice
by Erikoj
I have an 8" model and it has been great, It has put holes in ice from 3" thick to nearly 3' thick without an issue. I coat the blades in oil after each use and have honed them several times, but never replaced them. it cuts as good today as it did on its virgin run. I have only two very minor complaints about the auger, number one it could use some kind of a pilot bit between the blades, it tends to walk across the surface of the ice a bit when first starting on a hole (as does any hand auger save the Nils) and the other complaint is the country of origin, Mora augers used to be made in Sweden, well now like almost everything else they are made in China. Despite these two negatives I have drilled hundreds of holes with this auger and not had a problem, it is lightweight and breaks down easily to transport. It cuts fast and true and has held up well, even the paint.

it is very lite and packs up short, it cuts through hard ice easier then any hand auger I have ever used
GARBAGE
by avidangler17 -
For such a basic hand tool, this thing is junk. I have a 7" version and just about every piece has broken on it within 3 years. I ice fish maybe 10-15 times a year, mainly for perch, so I don't drill a huge number of holes. So far, the blade sheath has cracked, the handle nut has broken, i have lost two blades down the hole, and have even BROKEN blades. Keep in mind, new blades are almost the cost of a whole new auger. Save your hard-earned money and get something a little bit nicer.

Good Hand auger

I do have my old 8" auger, but when ice 9" or more it's tough to make a hole, so i bought 5".Now, even ice is more than 20",in 30-40 second it's done. So i would recommend to every one to buy and use, especially for ice 9" and more.Plus - fair price.

It's a great little auger. I liked mine so much I was offering to drill holes for other folks out on the lake. The new rubber grips are also a lot nicer than the plastic ones most other companies use.

I have a power auger but wanted to get a hand auger for ease of use and something light weight. This does the trick, but best when ice is 6 inches or less.
ice-fishing drilling made easy

I use the 6 inch hand auger and I have used it for years and merely replace the blades every several years..It slices through the ice quickly..I can easily cut through 12 -18 inches of ice in under 30 seconds. It enables me to drill lots of holes and explore and increase my chances of catching fish.
12 ice, 3 minutes then fishing

The MORA Hand auger would be then best if it had a pilot bit, to keep it straight from start to finish.
I recomend the MORA hand auger
by Buddy
My MORA hand auger is close to 20 years old and it still works just fine. 10 inches of ice is no problem for the MORA. This auger, with some care, will last a lifetime. I believe for the price it is a good deal, if my MORA ever needs to be replaced I will buy another hand auger this will be the one.
Simply The Best!!!

I have the original mora hand auger, but it's from 1980, which belonged to my dad. It has served us so well, we've never used a power auger. All we had to do was trade in the blades to get them sharpened, or buy new 8" ones every 2-3 years.
awesome

Bad

the blade angle is off so it won,t cut into the ice. All it wants to do is walk all over the ice.I would sent it back but I didn,t save the recide. So I went and got a diffent brand.I try to sharpen the blade and it did no good.I notice the angle of the blades are a lot diffent
Great buy

This is my second Mora auger, my first one has lasted 35 years. I fish everyday when there is ice and finally wore it out. I hope they still make them like they used to.
