South of the Border Satisfaction
Purchased 3 casting rods (M,MH & H) and one Spinning rod (M) for use down on Lake Baccarac Lodge in Mexico. This lake's very spirited and over-sized bass were no match for any of these quality sticks. Commercial air travel with the included sturdy rod cases was convenient as carry-on, ensuring a safe arrival. I haven't fished many 3 piece rods but have long been a St Croix fan. I found the actions of each and every rod true to their specs and a pleasure to use. The 10 largest bass I have ever caught, have all come on these rods. Of course, Lake Baccarac played a bit of a role in that . . . . .

I purchased this for a trip to NJ to plug fish Stripers and Blues. It was absolutely awesome. In very tough conditions (rain cold and heavy sea) it never failed me as we boated over 200 blue fish blitz after blitz after blitz. It caught a striper of about 15 lbs and blues up to 12 lbs with absolutely no trouble. Though 3 pieces, it performed as good as any of the one piece rods, frankly I couldn't tell at all no dead spots and it cast my pencil poppers and plugs like a rocket. I was using a Shimano Calais with Braid as an FYI. It never turned or came apart pulling fish over the gunnel or waiting for the release. I expect it to just as well with snook and tarpon on my travel trips abroad. I wish I had this rod two years ago when I peacocked in the Amazon. Traveled on two domestic flights as a carry on. Case was very sturdy and protective. I own numerous rods of all types and this quickly became a go to favorite. I compared this with the Loomis travel rod ( I own several and love them also) which is also a fine product, but given the quality and price advantage of the ST. Croix it didn't make any sense. You could spend more money but you couldn't get a better rod in this case.
