Sensitivity is the best characteristic of this rod. I can feel each pebble on the bottom of the lake when fishing for walleyes with a 1/8 oz jig and bites are easily distinguished from obstructions.
This is actually my third St. Croix Avid 6'9" medium light spinning rod. My wife demanded that I purchase one for her when I caught more walleyes than she did last fall. Unfortunately, he… Read More

Best Rod I own
I use this rod for 80% of my fishing . From walleye to bass and even pike , I have caught a 46 inch musky on this rod ! A great casting rod .
What is Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) tooling technology?
St. Croix developed IPC tooling technology to get rid of distinct transitional points in the blank during the rod-making process. St. Croix states IPC blanks are more uniform in wall thickness from tip to butt for a rod that displays smoother actions, more strength, and greater sensitivity.
What do high-modulus SCIII graphite rod blanks mean to me?
High-modulus SCIII graphite, according to St. Croix, is a high-strain graphite fiber that produces sensitive and lightweight rods with great durability. The material is a fine choice for the serious angler who wants a high-performing rod at a good value.
Where are Avid Spinning Rods made?
St. Croix designs and handcrafts the Avid Spinning Rod in the USA in Park Falls, WI.
