I haven’t used this rod yet. Looks to be well made however it is different from my other Avid rod which is turquoise in color and has different eyes. I like the solid cork handle. I don’t have any rods with split handles. I am expecting this rod to be my perfect rod for inshore fishing with plastic jerk baits.
Very versatile rod

First of all, forever grateful to FishUSA for having the 7 ft Avid Spinning MF2 in stock in April 2021 (pandemic still ongoing for future gens reading this 🙂). Had 5 smallies the other day. All footballs and non came off. FishUSA packed this rod like it deserves - with respect. Amazing company and customer service and lightning fast shipping. Thank you once again!
Get them while they last
This is the 4th St. Croix Avid I own. 2 are casting - a 7'MH/F and a 7'MH/XF. This is the 2nd spinning (a 7' M/F), the other is a 6'6 M/F. All in all, I think this is the sweet point in the St. Croix lineup relative to the Premier and the Legend Tournament, the other 2 lines I've tried. It's not the lightest rod on the market, but at $200, you'll have trouble coming close in a USA-made rod for value. I understand that these are being replaced by the Victory line, and I bought this one just because I have a sneaking suspicion that the new guides, handles, and other components won't be quite as good as this one. I hope not.
The only brand of rods I own!
St Croix makes great rods and, while not cheap, are a great value for the money. These are the only rods in my locker. Trolling, bait casters, spinning rod and ice fishing rods are top pf the line
Cant be the warranty and customer service. I step on a rod, called the manufacture to see if it could be repaired (I was honest) and St Croix replaced the 5 year old rod free under warranty
Best rod for the money..period!
Avid rods are by far, one of the best rods for my money. I own 7 of these in various actions from UL to heavy. These rods are light, strong, sensitive, and have a good feel/balance in hand. One of my Avid's is over 20 years old and it is still hauling in fish. If I could suggest one series of fishing rods, this is it!
