fishing smallmouth bass on the Potomac from a canoe, this is the perfect weapon

I received my new croix and after opening discovered the tip was broken. Called and talked to a fishusa rep and got immediate response. I was told not to worry, he would make a call and get right back with me. Within fifteen minutes i received the call back and was informed a new rod was on the way and should recieve it within 2-3 days. It was delivered on time and i was very pleased. I will definately do business with them again and highly recomend them to others.
Love to fish

Best Rod I Own!!!
by YOLO -
I bought an 8' Avid ML Spinning Rod with steelhead fishing in mind and absolutely love it. I wanted a rod with a bit more backbone and a bit shorter than the standard "Buggy Whip" steelhead rod. This rod is the answer. I have landed several nice steelhead with a 4# (as light as I will go) fluorocarbon leader with zero problems. If I had only one complaint it would be that they are a bit high priced and, for the money, they should come with a protective sleeve or case.
If I had one rod, this would be the one

I really like the feel and weight of this rod. It is on the upper end of my current price range, and it is worth every dollar so far. I've used it a couple of times this Spring, and it will be my go to rod this summer.
Great rod! I am a big fan of St. Croix Rods. They are well built, durable, and very sensitive. Warranty is very good and they are very fast with getting back to you if you ever have an issue. American made on top of that so no complaints there!

St Croix Avids are amazing. I've caught most of my first species on this stick from Sunny's to walleye. Even hooked a Muskie with it on 4 lb fluorocarbon and fought it all the way to the boat. This rod can do anything but it's wheelhouse is small game. Great rod to learn on.
The very best so far, 5' Avid
I have 5' Triumph before, and as it goes i upgraded from Berkley cherrywood. So first things first, Triumph is gigantic leap from berkley, works so great that i have doubts that anything can perform better, until now. I got this rod right at season closing in one of the spots, and try it out. First thing first - This rod outperform triumph by same gigantic leap forward. Sensitivity is one thing, castability - works even better, precision and distance increase. Ok on the bad side - it is pretty fragile rod, if you handle it carelessly, so here comes complains about rod tube, but i have purchased tube from StCroix , that is greatly works and not that expensive. You pay 50$ more to get one. and its feets two rods, i have 5 tubes. But that is for another review. You need to find reel accordingly smooth for the operation, so you will have great uninterrupted experience in fishing with this rod. About action when fish is on - it is smooth but you feel great backbone. Run out of words .....
excellent travel rod.

This rod was bought for pond fishing and wading. When catching small bass on this rod it's just as fun as catching a monster! This rod is so sensitive and it's a blast for small fish!

Excellent Value Ultralight Rod
by TroutBum -
I use this rod for all species of trout in the smaller spring creeks of Western NC, near Asheville. I like these rods so much, that this is my second one (I also have a 5 footer that I purchased from FishUSA). It is so sensitive that even with the tiny spinners I use, I can feel the spinner blade vibrations through the handle, when retrieving the lure from a distance. I also have a St. Croix Avid fly rod that I purchased from FishUSA as well. I won't hesitate to purchase more equipment from them - they are very responsive and attentive.
I would buy this product again and again

Great ultra light pole

I love the pole for its amazing sensitivity and play while I'm actually bass fishing. Great for small lures and large fun!
St Croix Rod Order
Ordered the 6’9 st croix medium light rod. It was difficult to find during the pandemic. Some companies indicated it was in stock, but had to backorder. Fish USA was true to their word, checked their inventory and shipped the day I ordered. It arrived in perfect condition in a crush proof tube. Great service and a quality made in the USA product. They earned my future business!
Best rod for the money..period!
Avid rods are by far, one of the best rods for my money. I own 7 of these in various actions from UL to heavy. These rods are light, strong, sensitive, and have a good feel/balance in hand. One of my Avid's is over 20 years old and it is still hauling in fish. If I could suggest one series of fishing rods, this is it!
The only brand of rods I own!
St Croix makes great rods and, while not cheap, are a great value for the money. These are the only rods in my locker. Trolling, bait casters, spinning rod and ice fishing rods are top pf the line
Cant be the warranty and customer service. I step on a rod, called the manufacture to see if it could be repaired (I was honest) and St Croix replaced the 5 year old rod free under warranty
Get them while they last
This is the 4th St. Croix Avid I own. 2 are casting - a 7'MH/F and a 7'MH/XF. This is the 2nd spinning (a 7' M/F), the other is a 6'6 M/F. All in all, I think this is the sweet point in the St. Croix lineup relative to the Premier and the Legend Tournament, the other 2 lines I've tried. It's not the lightest rod on the market, but at $200, you'll have trouble coming close in a USA-made rod for value. I understand that these are being replaced by the Victory line, and I bought this one just because I have a sneaking suspicion that the new guides, handles, and other components won't be quite as good as this one. I hope not.
