Great rod for dipsys
by wormburner -
This is my second Ugly Stik Dipsy Diver rod. I was so impressed with the first one I bought I had to get another. I fish Lake Erie walleyes and other dipsy diver rods I've used don't have nearly the strength or sensitivity to handle big dipsys. If you depend on dipsy divers to get you baits down and out to the side, you need this rod.
Great Rod for The Money Plus 5 Year Guarantee

I Have 16 ugly stix rods aboard my 25 ft Baha Cruiser. Have been using them for 25 years. Love the action and sensitivity, have had a couple break over the years but just send them back to Shakespeare and for $15 bucks get a new one. Sweet...Plus they look cool in a 8 rod spread.
10' Are Serious Rods!

These rods are long, strong, and still have some action at the tip. I use them for my outer inline planer boards (I also run another set of boards on the inside with 8'6" rods) and they are working very well for this purpose.
Best downrigging rod out there

The Cadillac of downrigging rods, I purchased an additional 2 of these for a total of 8. Great action, quality construction you will own this rod from now till the 12th of ever.

Nice rod! It's sensitive for larger fish!
My Basic Trolling Rod
If it is on my boat and in a rod holder chances are it is an Ugly Stik. They take a beating and come back for more.
Very durable rod!

After breaking too many graphite rods, I have switched to using all Ugly Sticks for Lake Ontario salmon trolling. They live up to their claim of being nearly unbreakable. I have never had an issue with the six that I own.

Trolling 10xl . Trilene on a 12 offshore planner board ... Handles it real nice.
Ugly Stick Dipsy Rod
Best dipsy rod i have used, using a flasher and fly set-up along with a dipsy the other rods i have made it real hard to bring in any fish of size, but with the Ugly stick I dont get so worn out bringing in a fish or just bringing it in to clean off weeds, it saves energy and time, well made [...]. No need to go any where else, it was the best price online also. Dennis

A nice rod if you can get over the color
by Jekyll -
This is a nice rod and very well priced. Great value but you need to live with blue and yellow color on the same rod. Must have been designed by a color blind designer.
A great stick

My first (but not last) Ugly Stick downrigging rod. It takes a nice bend and handles fish very well.
Absolute favorite rod
by Coho clubber -
This is the my absolute favorite trolling rod for lake Superior trout and salmon. The rod I am referring to is the 9foot light action downrigger model, it has lots of flex and power for such a whippy rod and it loads perfectly into the downrigger giving perfect release hooksets along with very good fish handling abilities with its nine foot length.

These are rugged yet very flexible poles. What I am disappointed in is the fact that one of the clear Tips has a run in it. looks defective.
Great Fishing Rods

I use rods on Cannon Down Riggers and they work great for salmon.
Won't buy another this size

This is an 8'3" downrigger rod. While I like the action, it has several problems: first, the halves are unequal lenght with the tip half being about 10" longer than the butt half. This makes breakdown, storage and transport more difficult and exposes the thin parts to breakage. Second, the rod started to delaminate at the female joint on the first day of use. I like the action and it does work great as a downrigger rod. I also enjoy fighting fish with this rod.
best all around, walleye to king salmon

I think shakespeare rods are the best for all around fishing.Trolling mi rivers & downrigging the great lakes you can use the same rod.
Works surprisingly well

I purchased this rod for a 400 foot copper setup. It pulls this well off the stern or off a planer board. It really transmits the action so it is easy to see what's happening.
