Product Details

Tie on one from this Prince Nymph - 2 Pack and you'll see why this is an American classic fly pattern! It is said that a California angler named Doug Prince developed the Prince Nymph (aka Brown Forked Tail Nymph) in the late 1930s or early 1940s with a split brown tail to imitate that of a stonefly which trout all over find irresistible. The distinctive white wings and peacock herl ribbed in a gold-color wire set the Prince Nymph apart from others as an all-purpose attractor fly, often used sub-surface to act as an emerging caddis or mayfly. This offering is noted to work for the initiated and uninitiated fly angler alike anytime, anywhere, and under all water conditions! This is a serious fish-catcher and no fly box is complete without at least one Prince Nymph - 2 Pack!

  • Use for brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, grayling, steelhead, and more
  • Mimics a stonefly and the swimming nymphs for caddis and mayflies; fished properly it can imitate a small minnow
  • Technique: fish a Prince Nymph on a dead drift and raise the rod tip at the end as you would any nymph or use various other nymphing methods (upstream without an indicator in uniform currents, "high-stick" a 30-ft cast, etc.); larger sizes act as stonefly imitators and when sent deep it can act like a streamer to attract attacking trout; works great as a dropper; this can be a rewarding winter pattern when fished deeply and slowly
