Reload your fly box with these Pheasant Tail Nymph - 2 Pack options! The fly is a modernly sparse adaptation of the lean nymph first tied in 1958 by Frank Sawyer, a riverkeeper in England who is arguably the father of modern-day nymph fishing. To this day the Pheasant Tail Nymph remains as one of the best nymphing patterns ever tied onto a hook. The wire ribbing creates a segmented body while adding a bit of attractive sub-surface flash and durability. That durability is key as the Pheasant Tail Nymph acts as a terrific imitator for all sorts of mayfly nymphs which trout gorge themselves on under the water. Offered in a range of sizes so that you can take this pattern with you every time you go fishing – trout will hit it but your job is to find the right size they prefer at that moment (and we all know every day is different). • Use for brown trout, brook trout, rainbow trout, steelhead, and more
  • Mimics mayfly nymphs in general, which can appear all year long; is a near duplicate in color and profile for the Blue Winged Olive Nymph
  • Technique: sift through gravel to find naturals and match the size as closely as you can to your Pheasant Tail Nymph; cast upstream into fast current, let it sink, and then either lift the rod tip or even draw in the line to copy a nymph's rising motion up through the water column from the streambed to the surface; try a form of this method in stillwater found on lakes and ponds as well
