Great rod

Baby got back!

My first catch on this pole was a large moray eel which I boosted up, no problem. I especially like it's sensitivity, light weight and comfortable cork handles. I will be using this pole primarily for dunking live and cut baits and really like how it matches up with my new Penn Battle 8000. I think with this setup I should be able to contend with anything swimming that may want a piece of my bait.

i would buy this product gain & again

Quality product well made

This rod is great surf, jetty and bay fishing. I would prefer just a little more sensitivy and it would be perfect.Friend has the 8 ft model and he likes the action,so do I.You need the extra length to put that bait or plug out there. The rod is 9' and med. action.

great affordable rod

Bought this rod to throw some plugs around, in the surf for stripers. well built, great reel mount, and guides. Nice and sensitive

This is a good basic entry level rod. For plugging it gets heavy fast. It is good or all around surf action. If you need an inexpensive durable piece of equipment this is a good rod to buy. I have an Avenger 50 with thirty pound power pro on this rod. I use it for cut baits and plugs.

I would buy it again.I own 3 Okuma poles

The Okuma pole is very easy to cast and handles well. The only thing that is not very good but is ok is the butt cap. It gets caught in the sandspike. Better with a straight design

Excellent product at awesome price

OKUMA's surf rods are simply the best rods for the money. I'm sure the blanks used by some of the high dollar companies are a bit lighter but these really are awesome rods. I have several, along with several from Lamiglas and even though the Lamiglas rods are not high dollar - they are at my upper limit - the OKUMA rods are just as reliable, sensitive and durable.

Excellent product

I can't imagine spending several hundred dollars for a surf rod when you can buy most of the OKUMA rods for well under $100. I'm fishing for anything from whiting to 100 pound blacktip sharks and this rod can handle all of it.

feels reliable

I bought 10 feet Medium Heavy, it doesn't feel like Medium Heavy, but feels more like a HEAVY rod, doesn't bend much and feels stiff. Exactly what I need to cast 5oz sinkers far. I weighed this rod, it was 20oz. Other 10ft Medium Heavy rod that I have made by Tsunami weighs 13oz, and it really feels like a medium heavy. It would be very helpful to include the weight of the rods in the specifications.

I have 3 Okuma solaris rated 3 to8

they are very well priced I like the conventional rods better than the spinning rod

went to the nw Washington state ocean to try it out.... love it . .. Surf perch fishing was grate with 12 foot long pole. Sensitive and strong for open ocean fishing from the shore . Light enough for 12 footer

great rod for the price.

12' med heavy, this rod was with me almost the whole season, until the one of the guide eyelet fell out somewhere, now sitting on the shelf waiting for filing a claim with okuma for replacement. but for the price and rod strength I think it's really good rod with lifetime warranty , you cant really beat that. I recently bought tsunami airwave elite 9'6" extra heavy cost more, and it's really light weight and works better than this okuma. I also had the 2 of the baitcasting version 11" for 4 years, nothing happens to it, I must got a dud one.
