Good Basic Reel

No actual fishing experience yet, but it looks like a good basic design that serve the purpose of getting me started fly fishing at a minimum cost.
Excellent reel for the price

Returning to fly fishing after years of other sports and other types of fishing. This reel seems of high quality for the price. I wanted to change from left hand to right hand operation. Clear directions and the tool provided made this task easy. I haven't been on the water yet, but practice casting shows the reel works smoothly, holds 100 yards of 20# backing plus a five weight line.

I am a beginner fly fishermen. I have been using this reel for about 3 years. Being a beginner, I have abused the reel in ways you cannot imagine. I have filled it with sand and dropped it on pavement. I have not had a single problem that I could not fix with a little cleaning and lubricating. Buy this reel if you want to get (yourself or your kid) into the sport cheap without sacrificing too much quality.

I live in southeast Alaska and do a lot of saltwater fishing. This is my second Okuma Sierra reel. The drag works great. The Finnish on the older Sierra is still very good after 60 some Steelhead fishing trips. Overall a nice reel for the price. Dan Southeast Alaska
