Bought the 7'5" Medium. Rod rated 3/8 to 1 oz. To me the rod is maxed out at 3/4 oz. However, the rod is well made and I think fishes great. If I was in the market for a rod that could handle 1 oz weight I would get the heavier rated rod. I also find the handle quite comfortable.
Medium heavy is a great pike rod.

I ordered the 7.5 medheavy split grip and have not been disappointed. I typically cast size 10 and 12 x raps 50-75yds across a dam on 20lb fireline. This rod is light enough not to wear you out but stout enough to bury the hooks on toothy pike at the end of a long cast. This is one of the nicest okuma rods I’ve owned.
Great rods for the money

Bought two ML, a M, and a MH last summer and have fished with them for a full year averaging 9 days on the water a month. They have been excellent boat roads for casting to, fighting, and landing just about everything in 50 feet of water or less on the gulf coast of Florida. I am used to high end fly rods, and while they don't have quite the same sensitivity or polished feel in hand of a high end rod, I have been very happy with them for constant use in saltwater. So far the guides have handled braided line well and corrosion hasn't been an issue aside from very minor rust on the hook keepers, probably more from the hooks themselves, with just a light freshwater rinse at the end of the weekend. They match well with size 30,40, and 60 Okuma RTX reels, respectively. I have been very happy with this conbination and would recommend them to the discerning angler trying to build a collection of boat rods after spending most of the play money on the boat!

Excellent rod, the 7'0 was great when it came to walleyes, pikes, lg mouth bass and muskies. It might seem a bit thinner for a rod in its class but handles some heavier game easily. Very touch sensitive so the lightest strike will enable a good set for hooks. Handles some heavier braided line well too, I put 50lb Daiwa j-braid with an Okuma Trio reel and its a killer combo. Highly recommend !!!
