Okuma SST 7' 6 2pc.Salmon Rod

This is one nice rod for the money. I've been looking for a rod with a soft tip and plenty of backbone to pull in the big ones. I use it for drift fishing in rivers for sm bass.
Love this Rod

Light and Easy to cast!
Great Steelhead Rod.

The rod has a nice backbone to it for a 9ft noodle rod. Most noodle rods are too flimsy for my liking. I own this rod and a medium action riversider. Both rods are inexpensive and catch as many fish as a 700.00 G-Loomis.

A wonderful and responsive rod for river salmon and steelhead. It has proven itself in the first few outings. Well made and a great deal for the price. Fast delivery also.

What a great fishing rod for our greatlakes tributary salmon fishing. I've been using this rod for three years now with great experiences. Recently purchassed another to have for a back-up or if Dad ever decides to join me for a trip. Three thumbs up for this Okuma SST 10'6" MED ROD!
awesome rods for the price..

for the price i paid i was expecting a cheap rod. but it was not at all a cheap rod im8 blank. nice reel seat good cork fast tip action blank quality guides. etc...etc... the reason i bough this rod is cause i needed a heavy duty rod for my arsenal for fishing king salmon. i bought the 8 foot model good to 30 pound test line i found it a little to heavy duty for my likes. most of my stick bait i throw for salmon only weight like 1/2 once to 1 once. this rod with it's tip action will handle more then that no problem. if i was looking at them again i would look at the medium action rods in a 10 foot 6 or even a 9 foot rod i al ready own a okuma guide select in a 10' 6" medium light action that was good for this year casting the plugs i could not even feel 3/4 once cleo's on it. all and all it is a great rod for the price and i will most likely get another in a medium action later on. if are laws were not so strict here in Michigan i would throw the proper weight in Michigan rivers need to feel the rod
A good long lightweight rod.

I needed a light-weight rod that could cast much farther than my 7 ft rods. This rod does cast far and 1oz seems the best weight for this rod.
Good Salmon pole

I am a novice and bought this to replace the Uglystick that comes apart when casting. Am able to cast where I want, unlike before, and it is light. Stands up to the 40 lb. salmon on the Salmon River in NY.Great buy for the price.

The five star rating is based on what the rod is. It is not a high end rod. It's a handsome mid-grade rod at a very great value. This is the best rod I could find for less than twice this price for pier and shoreline steel-head fishing. It is light and sensitive. It has good quality components. It might be a little stiff for some, but I'm very happy with it for my purposes.
A very good fishing rod

This rod is constructed very good and with a lot of backbone. Its easy to cast far and very sensitive. I bought the M for and ML and have no issues so far. I use both for surf fishing.
GREAT TRIBUTARY TROUT ROD
by Jonesy3 -
What a great rod for the price. This is an excellent rod for fishing egg sacs or jigs for great lake tributaries.

Really nice rod, strong backbone but tip sensitive enough to detect a bite. I got this rod almost a year now and I can't believe it's even cheaper. Good for salmon fishing.
All around great rod!

All around great rod with good backbone!
Best rod for the price

One of my favorite rods for the price. I have a couple different models. These rods have a backbone that is quite insane. But I love these rods for stripers with live bait and a float.
Great Bang for the Buck!!

I purchased the 10'6" medium action for bottom bouncing in the Ontario Tribs. Its got great sensitivity and has good back bone to be able to put lots of pressure on the big fresh chrome in the larger tribs.
Impressive Rod for the Money!

I just received this rod and I have yet to fish with it, but just looking at it, after years of fishing steelhead with custom rods, factory rods etc. I can tell you, for the money you won't find a better bargain. This is no cheap rod, only the price is cheap. It may not look as good as a custom wrapped rod but you get a great IM-8 blank with excellent guides and outstanding cork and it looks plenty good for under $70 bucks and free ship here from FishUSA... I can't wait to toss lures like KO wobblers or spinners from the pier with it.. This rod of course is also made for float fishing or bottom bouncing in the rivers if you use a spinning reel.. Just a great all around rod for trout and salmon.. The action seems to be medium to med fast... It definitely is not a wet noodle, so it looks and feels to have plenty of backbone. I like it so much I just bought the model 1092ml 10'9", which is equipped with a Michigan handle that I intend to use on the river for float fishing..
Fantastic rod for the price

I just received the SST 902M rod and although I have not to fish with it, I was impressed in the quality and the flexibility of the tip. I agree that for the money you won't find a better bargain for under $70 bucks with free shipping from FishUSA. I plan to use this exclusively for surf perch and will be replacing my Shimano FX which is too heavy and too stiff tossing a 1 oz. Carolina rig. My brother just purchased the 10.5 ft version for surf perch. Can't beat FishUSA's prices.
Nice Steelhead Rod

Bought this as a gift for a buddy of mine. He really loves the action. Now I want one!
A good rod for the money!

A very good rod, overall. I mean - for $65 - it does exactly what I want it to do. I use it to jerk rapalas and cast bucktails for landlocked salmon and browns from shore in the Finger Lakes region in winter. I get good action from each type of presentation, and the rod is light enough for me to cast 1 - 200 times in a day. Perfect length for getting a long cast without it being too long. Guides seem to be a tiny bit cheap, but I full expected that give the make, model, and price tag. I've landed several 5 - 8lbers and am having a lot of fun with it!
Broke two tips in as many outings.
8'6" medium action SST. spinning rod purchased 11/1/2017. I liked the feel in the store. Salesman said they were good rods. Sold me. Bank river fishing on the Olympic Peninsula can get brushy but the first tip broke in the parking lot as I put the lure in the hook holder on the pole. WTF? figured it was a bad blank. Exchanged it for a new one the next day no problem. Okuma return policy is great! Next outing we were bushwacking back from the river. Had the rod tips (was also carrying a shimano bate caster) behind me when the tips got hung on a twig. Gave them a little jerk as is the usual first response. The Shimano did fine but the Okuma tip broke. OK, this could have been more of pole stress than I was aware of, but I have been doing this longer than you are old with lighter tackle. Can't remember ever breaking a tip. I could exchange it again but honestly don't want another one. Maybe this was a bad lot? Caught and released 2 Wild Kings and 2 Coho and the pole was great at that.
Super Sensative Rod

Great rod for the money,This is the Okuma, SST-S-862MH, I paired this with a Diawa BG 3000 and 15lb. Power Pro Braid. I wanted a rod with A lot of diversity, this rod throws lures for 3/8oz. to 1 1/2oz. and then some. I jig A lot, and have been using this rod to throw 1/4oz. jigs /tubes with ease 60-80 Ft. and better. I've only thrown up to 1/2oz. jigs so far and those Sailed across the river. This is a Salmon and Steel Head rod, I'm using it now for Winter Walley fishing on a light bite, super sensitive, I plan on using it for False Albacore fishing in Cape Cod casting Epoxy minnows , Deadly Dicks, etc. up to 1 1/4oz. , I'm sure I'll have No problems landing the Albies , Blue Fish and schoolie size Stripers. I may buy another one !! Stephen Usavich
does the job!

Used this rod to fish for King salmon & Steelhead in the Salmon River..........I have no complaints!
The Okuma SST is far the best rod ever.
I have used the Okuma for salmon and steelehead and have had some of the best luck over any other rod that I have used or owned. This pole is good for rivers as well as lakes. The sensetivity for big fish as well as the little fish like trout and bass is great. I would recommend this pole to anyone who is looking to do big game fishing as well as lake fishing.
