Very Impressed

First purchase from FishUSA.com. Excellent Service, very professional. This is exactly the rod I've been searching for. The lightest medium action rod available of any manufacturer. Lure weight 1-5 oz and the lowest line weight. I paired it up with a S-40 Trio. I am now able to cast a 3 oz. pyramid up to 70 yds. Which is more than ideal for the surf fishing I do for steelhead. The rod is well built, the tip will actually whip the rig out, whereas my lighter weight rods up to 1 1/2 oz lure weight have to be lobbed with a 2 oz weight for fear of over stressing the tip. Very strong backbone on this rod, so I loose a bit of feeling when hauling in an average fish of 4-8 lbs in my area. The eyelets are small, but i can live with that. I do a lot of sub temp fishing and they freeze up and need to be cleaned. Overall, for the price it is very good.

Okuma SST Salmon & Steelhead Casting Rod Review

by GiftedDrifter -

Being a drift boat owner, I needed a rod at a reasonable price for taking river volunteer workers out to backtroll for Spring and Fall Salmon. I selected the SST C 902MH, and I have been quite pleased. This 9' Medium Heavy Rod has good sensitivity at the tip which allows the angler to monitor the proper "tickle" of the plug. The medium/heavy design provides plenty of backbone for setting the hook and fighting the fish. The 9' length is also long enough to be maneuverable all around the boat when fighting a fast-moving and uncooperative fish, yet it is not too long for easy netting. While fishing the river this year, we landed several Salmon with this rod, including a very nice 35-pound Spring King Salmon. This rod performed perfectly each time, and I now use it exclusively for backtrolling and bottom-bouncing river Salmon.
