Details

The Okuma RTX Spinning Reels deliver features commonly reserved for elite-level spinning reels. The RTX series of reels feature models great for freshwater and light inshore saltwater applications. Okuma utilizes their C-40X with long strand carbon fiber to increase strength by 50% while decreasing weight by 25% over standard graphite frames. The C-40X construction is plainly visible when the reels are exposed to bright sunlight. The Okuma RTX Spinning Reels are finished off with a two-tone machined and ported aluminum spool and forged aluminum handle with EVA handle knob. The seven stainless steel ball bearings and Quick-set anti-reverse roller bearing make for zero handle play.

The interior of the RTX spinnings reels feature the Precision Elliptical Gearing system. This system incorporates an anodized aluminum main gear, oscillation gear and slider. Harder than brass and much more corrosion resistant, the drive system greatly improves strength and longevity, while further decreasing weight. The brass pinion is maintained to provide for liquid smooth gear meshing and fluid overall performance.

Okuma RTX Spinning reel

by -

The reels are very smooth and even with the oiled drag it is very sensitive and smooth. It is not a Shimano STradic C4 but it is close for 1/2 the price...

outstanding reel for jigging

by

I used the reel on a recent trip to Naples, FL for inshore species (pompano, spotted trout and Spanish mackeral). The method was vertical jigging with a small lure called a pink banana. Because the RTX-35S was so light, there was no wrist or arm fatigue despite hours of fishing each day. In addition the reel cast long distances with Fireline 14lb braid. It was a pleasure to fish with this reel.

It's light weight makes it easy to jig. Casts long and has a smooth drag. Got my money's worth!

Okuma rtx 40s, best spinning reel

by

I got okuma rtx 40 s in August as a replacement for a broken reel specifically for catching blues and stripers from shore. I put cheapo Walmart 8 lb test on it, made over 10000 cast not 1 wind not. Landed over 100 stripers and blues, some stripers were keepers and the drag performed great. I read some complain that the bail did not close easily but mine closes easily. The bail never closed on me during a cast with 1 to 2 ounce lures. It is light weight which important if you are walking miles to a favorite fishing spot. I've dunked it in the salt many times and dropped into the sand a couple of times, the reel still performed like new. I lightly rinse the rod and reel after each use. I have many spinning reels, Penns, Mitchell, and others and this the best reel I have ever own. In fact I bought my son a Penn this spring for over hundred dollars and his reel does not match the performance of the Okuma. So far this has been the best spinning reel I have own.
