You need to check this rod out!!!

by Cali Bear -

I love this rod because it allows me to cast further and is light weight. I surf fish almost every day on my way home from work because my drive is about 30 out of 42 miles of prime Southern California beach from Santa Barbara to Oxnard. When I surf fish I tend to walk up and down the beach 1 to 2 miles and then back to where I started. This rod is also very good for lakes and streams, although I mostly surf fish.I like this rod so much that I ordered a second one for a female friend that I am teaching to fish. This resulted in another friend asking me to teach him, and he has ordered the same rod after I let him try out mine. And if you are wondering if it could really handle the bigger fish, I do catch, battle, and land large legal size halibut from the surf.

A great inexpensive rod

by skain spawn

I river fish for browns and no rod I have ever tried works as well. It cast's great And gives the lure a lot of action when ripping. Catching 3 to 6 pound browns on 4 lb test is very hard without the right equipment.

Exceptional value

by Big Mac -

I've purchased several Okuma rods from FishUSA, but the Celilo I have is an ultra-light that I use for crappies and small trout. You get a well-made rod for an exceptional price. You can't go wrong with the Celilo when you consider the value. I have family and friends who are occasional fishermen, who haven't accumulated a ton of gear. I keep extra rods as lenders when I take guests fishing. I tell them not to worry, I've got just what they'll need. I may purchase a few more as gifts for the kids. If they break a tip in a car door, you're not out $150+.

great inexpensive product.

by hook in paw -

I love this rod. Inexpensive ,but well made. Recommended to me by my buddy who builds rods for a hobby. I have used it casting off shore for lakers in lake superior. Then I used it at the two hearted river in upper michigan for coho salmon. It is light weight, strong and flexible. I might get another one for my son. My biggest problem is now I want to go more and am too busy. But it is in my jeep ready to go when the opportunity presents.

Great rod. Excellent sensitivity in the Med Light. Loads up well to throw a crankbait as far and accurately as is necessary.

Great ultralight rod

by jim -

The only problem I found with this rod was the reel seat. Some times when flexing the rod, the adjustment nut becomes a bit loose.

Celilo = Good Value

by Quondog -

I currently own 10 of these rods. I use them for surf fishing, trout and steelhead fishing. They are like a Timex. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I don't abuse them, but I don't baby them either. I use them quite a bit in the salt and usually just give them a rinse when I get home and they have yet to fail.

Amazing rod for the price.

by JT -

Very happy with this purchase. Using this as a downrigger road for lake trout and it's perfect for the application. Sensitive enough for smaller 2-3 pound fish, but strong enough for the big boys.

Awesome large trout rod.

by a1sparky -

These 7 foot Celilo rods CE-S-702L-1 are awesome for throwing a power worm with only a split shot when fishing for trout. Even large trout come in quickly. They out perform other rods costing much more. Protect the rod tip, they break easily.

This rod is execelent for lake trout.

by G-MAN -

This rod is light and easy to detect any light bite, very sensitive tip.I used it at Irvine Lake to fish trout by the shore and it cast far.

Mixed Feelings

by Mike

I received this rod 2 days ago and have come to love it. However, yesterday on the way back from an afternoon fishing trip the tip of the rod managed to snap off. The rod was in the bed of a pickup with lots of other rods that have been hauled the same way for years without breaking. [...] I hope I have better luck with the next one. [...]

good rod

by jasaldo -

I use this rod for trout fishing and I must say it is a fantastic trout rod. I purchased the 6'6" rod and It is very sensitive and it throws my 1/32oz lures like nothing. I would and have recommend this rod to anyone looking for a good trout rod. I forgot to mention that it would be hard to find a better or equal rod at this price.

Good Rod at a Great price.

by Rick -

This rod is great set up with two pound test for use on local trout streams. Sensitive action with plenty of backbone in the lower section. I have used OKUMA reels for years, this is my first purchase of an OKUMA rod, I am very pleased.

This is the deal!

by Metelhead -

A great little rod for the money. It can break easily though so care must be taken. They should be able to stand up to a little more pressure than they do?
