Okuma Avenger ABF B Baitfeeder Spinning Reel
The Okuma Avenger ABF B Baitfeeder Spinning Reels have undergone numerous upgrades to form and function from its previous models. The most notable is the new Blade Body Design. This body design is compact and streamlined and reduces weight while minimizing its footprint. The baitfeeder system allows anglers to disengage their spinning reel spool and allow their bait to run free. The baitfeeding system incorporates a secondary micro-adjustable drag system at the rear of the reel that allows for precise adjustment of the spool for bait control. These reels have an upgraded machined aluminum spool and new Ergo Grip handle on sizes 40 and larger. The Avenger ABF B Reels are 5 oz. lighter than previous models.
The Okuma Avenger ABF B Baitfeeder Spinning Reels now includes Okuma's Precision Elliptical Gearing which delivers unprecedented line lay, increased smoothness, and long life durability. This gear system will enhance the function of the reel for the long term.

Was going to buy the original ABF reel when I saw this new model on fishusa. After seeing the great reviews for the previous version I went and bought this new one. I'm new to baitfeeder reels but not to Okuma products so I was optimistic this would be a good buy. Very easy to use and seems to be pretty well built.
Great deal for the $$$

First off, these reels are considerably smaller than their counterparts. I ordered the 40's, and probably should have gotten the 50's to better balance my set ups. The original avengers were much heavier and bulkier, which is what I expected. These do seem like they will do the trick, but have only landed a few carp over 20lbs. They still haven't gotten a real good test. I don't think you can do much better for the price. I would recommend these to anyone.

Excellent reel Good match in combination with medium action rod for large game fish through ice . I don't think its bait feeding system is sensitive enough for trouts
Great reel for the price

I have the ABF 80 series and It has not disappointed me yet. Its a little big for the piers but when the sharks, Grouper and Reds are hitting its a great reel. The bait feed is a great feature on the spinning reels. When I was younger I had so many spinning reels pulled in or my line blowing everywhere because you have to leave the bail open. So for that reason I switched to ABU Garcia 6000 open faced reels with bait clicks. Now with the bait feed on these spinning reels its a whole new ball game. My open faced Garcia has a great bait click but they just have one setting, On or Off. The ABF series has an adjustable bait feed so if the current or wind is strong you can adjust how easily the line come off the spool. This control is awesome when it comes to fishing with live bait. If you floater fish for Catfish in lakes or chunk out a huge pin fish off the pier in Ft. Myers you control how fast the fish peels off the line before you set the hook. A must for live bait fishing, the only con I had was it does not have a + or - indicator on the reel on witch way to turn the knob. I have to hand it to everyone in Customer Service of FISH USA, they are awesome and I want to say thank you for the quick shipping and service.

I've always been a shimano guy. Tried and true right. Well okuma had decent bait runners for a phenomenal price. Now that they have improved and redesigned some things they are Awsome reels for a phenomenal $$. Too many pros to list. My last AB 40 bait runner has turned me into a okuma guy thru and thru. It's great the reason being no company's nowadays redesign and improve on something w/o increasing the $ dramatically. Not okuma!!

I bought 3 of these last fall for carp fishing based on the reviews. Well, as of right now 1 is in for warranty service, 1 will go in for warranty service when I receive the other back, and 1 needs a new handle as the plastic insert inside where the handle attached to the reel broke and the handle will not tighten all the way. At first I was very pleased but maybe these are overmatched playing 20 lb. plus carp. The reel in for warranty had the main shaft bend causing binding in one spot during the retrieve. The one waiting for warranty is recently feeling like the gears are bad as it used to be smooth as silk but now grinds during the retrieve. if you plan to use these for anything bigger than bass, might want to look some more. I can see getting one bad one but 3? Odds pretty high. Might try a size or 2 bigger but I have a bad taste in my mouth with these.
I love Okuma

I just ordered a 10 ft battlecat and a abf 65 avenger my second. I also have a trio 65a and trio abf 65 on battle cats, whisker seeker and ugly stik rods my favorite is the trio abf 65 on 10 ft battlecat the avenger is right behind it but with a much better price point. This is my first order from Fish USA I wish I'd found them sooner they have the best pricing I've seen with a great selection.

This is my fourth avenger purchase, theses are sturdy reels at a great price
My last set of Avenger baitfeeders lasted me about 10 years of hard use and abuse on Great Lakes fish. From Steelhead to 15 pounds to drum over 18 lbs and countless other species. Just ordered a new set of the B series and hope to get many more great fish with them in the coming years. These reels while made in China and being very cheap price point have really proven themselves to me. My originals are still fishable but getting past their prime, lasted longer then any Shimano or other spinning reel I've owned.
