Definition of sinker

A weight added or included in terminal tackle for fishing and intended to force the line deep in the water or completely to the bottom. These are typically removable but can be tied permanently to the line, and can be made of lead, tungsten, tin, and other heavy metals. They can be as small as a few grams or as heavy as 5 ounces or more.
