Definition of jig head

A fishing hook with a lead weight molded to the hook just behind the eye of the hook. Typically designed for use with soft plastic lure bodies, but can be used with live bait or have materials tied to imitate baitfish. Available in a variety of hook-sizes and weights, along with painted and unpainted versions.
