Drop Shot

Definition of drop shot

A fishing tactic using verticle presentations of soft plastic baits for typically deep-water or suspended fish. A heavy weight is tied below an appropriate sized hook which stands out perpendicular from the fishing line with no leader. This keeps the bait off the bottom and easily controlled to entice bites. Fluorocarbon lines, specialized drop shot weights and hooks are used.
