Dipsy Diver

Definition of dipsy diver

A planing trolling weight attached to a fishing line used to achieve specific depths at standard trolling speed. The angles these are trolled at determine the distance they plane away from the boat as it is under power. Dipsy divers are designed with a trip-mechanism to break the resistance at the moment a fish strikes the lure being pulled behind the dipsy. The dipsy diver is designed to create distance between multiple lines.
