Hardy Ultradisc UDLA Fly Reel

The Hardy Ultradisc UDLA Fly Reel is the lightest disc drag reel Hardy has ever produced and replaces the Ultralite CADD reel. These Hardy fly reels are of the purest form, emphasizing only what you need in a disc drag fly reel. With an innovative frame design, this reel sets a new standard as the large arbor on the Ultradisc UDLA Hardy Reel moves much of the structural strength to the center of the drum, which enables less material and yet still retains mechanical strength. The Ultradisc features an enclosed line guard system that keeps the line within the reel cage. These Hardy lightweight performance reels are designed for ultra-thin fly lines and running lines, as well as leader-only systems popular in modern river fishing – line won't spill out of this Hardy Fly Reel as can happen with a half-frame design.

The Ultradisc UDLA Fly Reel's multi-pad drag system is scaled to the size of the reel. (Smaller models max out at about four pounds, the intermediates at about six, and the larger models reach about eight pounds). The Rulon disc drag system is also unregulated, so you can make fine adjustments to the drag pressure across many possibilities.
