G Loomis hit one out of the ballpark

by Jake -

I would highly recommend this rod for anyone interested in getting the BEST rod for trout. i paired it with an Islander Centerpin reel and couldn't be happier wtih it's performance. i have used many other rod/reel combinations in the past, but this is far and away the best i have ever used.

Overall nice.

The larger handle takes a little bit to get used to. The blanks are a nice color and have a faster action then the IMX rods but no to fast. I like how they offer a lot of different tapers/sizes. I own the TSR690S-1. It likes 2lb line and fishes it fine but it loves 4lb. 3/4 of the rod is softish but has plenty of backbone for a larger trout 15" plus. This model loves small spinners and light split shot rigs. I will buying more of these blanks.

7-1/2' Loomis trout pan fish rod

by Long wander

I had planned to use the rod for stream and river trout fishing with small lures and jigs, and while it casts small lures well it is a much lighter rod than the description would lead you to believe. This is a small stream rod for small fish using 2 lb. test line. It is not a rod for large trout on light jigs as advertised. If you want a beautiful super light rod for casting super light lures for smaller fish then you will be happy with this rod. It is not a versatile rod for larger streams and larger fish. I like the Loomis IMX rods much better. I am not impressed with this blended rod and I think they missed the mark.

Beautiful rod well worth the price.

Use it primarily for small streams and creeks with 2# line and light lures and spinners for trout. Size is perfect for navigating and casting in heavy brush cover. Would have liked a more moderate light rather than the moderate/fast configuration.
