Purchased this rod and was quite pleased with it. It has good sensitivity and backbone when needed and in the right hands it is as good as if not better than the more expensive rods. For this price I will be getting 2 more this year.

Horrible Reel Seat design, Cork broke away

Friends, I purchased a EAG106MH-MS-2 rod rated at 10-20lb, 3/8 to 11/4 lure for an old Penn 105 reel rated 10-20lb mono test. The Penn 105 would not fit into the reel seat. I tried a Penn Battle 6000 that did not fit either. I bought a new Penn Battle 5000 rated (15lb to 20lbs) that I forced & just squeezed into the rod seat. I then tighten down the top nut of the rod seat to secure the reel into the seat. Then the top piece of cork broke away from the tighten nut of the rod seat. The tighting nut did secure the reel to seat, but the cork with no backing broke wake from the inch long tighting nut. You twist above the nut and the cork rips away sliding up & down rod. I did wrap up the cork to the nut with some clothe tape it up. I would advise not to purchase until the reel seat design is changed. Other than that, action was excellent for heavy lures, heavy for the floating lite.
