Echo Base 4wt and 5wt rods

by fotofinish -

I first ordered this rod in 5 wt. Tons of rod for the money, easy loading and easy to achieve accurate casts. I ordered a 4wt because of the experience with the 5wt. Another great rod. Slightly heavier by fractions of an ounce than the priciest rods but performance plus.

Solid Rod

by cgala597 -

This was my first rod as an avid fly fisher and in terms of price point along with overall performance, I couldn't have been more impressed. It's light weight, durable and quite easy to secure the case to the side of your pack if you're hiking in/out from a trail head-which is how I typically fish in the Rockies. Of course, set up and tear are always annoying with any multiple piece rod, but it's pretty standard once you come to grips with that component of fly fishing. I always laughed at my friends who would spend $400+ on a fishing rig while I easily out performed their equipment, spending no more than $200 all in for a solid set up. The ECHO Base was certainly the foundation to this set up. Functionality is great while providing deep and accurate casts. I recommend if you're looking to begin in fly fishing while hiking in/out.
