I purchased this reel for my young daughter to use, since it was small in size. The size of the reel is perfect for a child's hand. I was surprised how smooth it was. My older kids use the Daiwa Goldcast which are great and this mini spincast is no different. Very easy to operate for small hands, casts and retrieves very smooth. The drag could be better, but I don't expect a great drag system from a reel of this size and type. It will be great for bluegill and small bass.
