My 3000 model was smooth out of the box, this 1000 was a little stiff. I opened it up, 1 dab of grease, joy on any gear. I added grease made for ice fishing reels. Now is as smooth as the 3000. It also weights 6.6 oz, not 6.4.

Good reel

by Showman -

Out of the box reel was smooth. Put 7 pound Sunline fluorocarbon on it for Ned rig. Smooth drag. Have landed close to 100 bass on it so far, up to 19 inches. Must drag line behind boat after fishing day to remove twist from line, would have to do this with any reel. This was 3000 model read review on 1000.

Great 25 series reel

by RedEyedRooster

I really like this reel for a ultra lite setup. This reel cast great and is smooth operating. Was looking at Pflueger president but my brother in-law and I were out fishing, he has the Pflueger, and he had a lot of line twist all day we cut the bait off twice and let the line out behind the boat but he still had problems. I have 3 of the Daiwa LT2500D now and think these reels are superior at the 25 series size for the money. Just a solid, smooth operating drag, long casting, reel with no problems
