Cortland 444 Classic Sylk Fly Line
Details
Skillfully designed for the avid bamboo and fiberglass angler, the Cortland 444 Classic Sylk Fly Line is butter soft and is smaller in diameter than traditional synthetic floating lines. This makes it the line of choice for traditional action rod anglers, including those earlier rod designs that have smaller guides. With the traditionalist in mind, Cortland's technicians have designed this line in a color that nearly matches the look of a traditional silk line coated with linseed oil and mucilin. Their suppleness makes them great cold weather lines with virtually any fly rod. The taper of the Cortland 444 Classic Sylk Fly Line is based on traditional silk line designs with long front tapers and longer level tips.
- Core: Braided nylon multifilament
- Welded Loops

Cortland 444 Classic Sylk Fly Line is made in the U.S.A.

1st of several Cortland Sylk Fly Lines !

Very realistic appearance however, less experienced anglers may misinterpret the coloration pattern as an old, aged, and cracking fly line sheath
Fantastic line for my Kabuto 8053 Glass Fly Rod

I had a glass rod built and read some reviews from a number of places and had to give this line a try. It is the perfect match for my Kabuto glass rod. Highly Recommended!
It's an awesome fly line for my bamboo fly rod.

This line is thin compared to other lines I have. It's my first double taper fly line. I cannot compare it to a natural silk fly line as I have never owned one. I have indicator Nymphed with this line, with weighted tungsten nymphs. But I have never tried it with split shot. I can't comment on how it would perform with split shot. All in all it's a perfect match with my custom bamboo rod.
Superior line

Sylk is a modern repro of an old silk line. It is small diameter for it's weight, shoots better and with a tighter loop than a contemporary line. Works great on all rods, but was intended I think for use on vintage bamboo rods with the smaller guides. It floats as well as any line but mends easier and is much less wind resistant and easier casting than a larger diameter.
Great line for all rods

Used with my 7-1/5 5 wt rod. Very smooth and easy to cast. Does not require the maintenance of the real silk lines.
