Nice shelter with a major “fixable” flaw

by Nick

Clam makes great products, however I had a major issue with this particular shelter, x400. The issue is that the rubber balls on the end of the fiberglass shafts are very soft and the “hubs” themselves are hard plastic. This is a problem. After using the shelter twice the rubber balls were all cut up and had chunks removed and marred from the hard plastic hubs, some major friction going on.
THE FIX- for each of the hub poles, I applied Permatex diaelectric grease “tune up grease” which doesn’t deteriorate the rubber, safe on all plastics. This helped lubricate the ball and socket connection, it works amazing now!! No cutting or chewing up of the end balls.
CLAM- I spoke to customer service to tell them my findings, not to complain, just to help them pre-field a lot of potential complaints, it seemed like it was in one ear and out the other lol!
IN SUMMATION- add a dab of rubber safe grease!!!! And enjoy!
