Details

Blackbird Spawn Scarf by Redwing Tackle is a very translucent spawn net alternative for making egg sacs. This netting allows the eggs in the sack to be much more visible, similar to using roe directly on the hook. If cut into 3 x 3 inch squares, it will yield approximately 81 pieces of material.

The Best Egg Sack Material

by Iceman Phil -

I have been using these spawn scarves for about 20 years now. Long before they were available in the US. I really like the color selection and it gives me many options to cover all water conditions. Some folks use these scarves whole and just start tying their eggsacks. I prefer to cut mine into strips about 2-3 inches wide. I use the Spawnee tyer and using strips is the best way for me.

Black Bird Carf

by Steelhead Junkie -

I have been using this stuff for a few years now. Before could only get it from Canadian sources or a select few here in Michigan. I beleive the scarf last's longer and even gives a more natural presentation when fishing spawn. There is no color fading and because of its fine mesh in my opinion allows you to hook more fish. Reason being the fine mesh scarf gets stuck in there teeth easier allowing for that extra time to get a hook set. I HIGHLY recommend you try this stuff, works great. www.steelheadmanifesto.blogspot.com

Great material

by Trib-stalker325 -

Overall this is an awesome product and works very well. In our area it helps change the color up a bit from regular sac material and gives the drift a slightly different presentation.

I use these all the time!

I tie my own eggs up and scarfs make it easier to tie smaller sacks to use for steelies. and a variety of colors helps me vary the colors based on the stream bottom colors and what the fish are hitting.

Nice Stuff

by Mr. Hookup -

Aside from the fact that you have to cut out squares from the big piece to tie spawn bags, this is really good stuff. Excellent color and the fine mesh gives spawn bags a really cool appearance.

Spawn scarf

by Chromechaser -

I love this scarf because it is so soft and ties beautiful spawn bags. It sticks to the teeth of salmon and steelhead like velcro, giving an advantage sometimes in the way of extra fish here and there that you may have missed but the scarf stuck in the fish's teeth. I do not like the fact that you have to cut the scarf into squares because it can be difficult to get consistent sizes and is time consuming.

All purpose.

by Rich

Not just for eggs.I like that it comes in larger sheets.I use it with dough baits for trout, and believe it or not I experimented with it in saltwater.I use peach color fishing for Striped Bass with live whole clams. The clam stays on the hook with long surf casts instead of flying off and stays on the hook in rougher surf. The mesh also seems to get stuck on the fine teeth making it harder for the fish to spit the hook increasing catch ratio.Just make a clam sac.Good luck!
