The 9' 12-weight is your-all-around best choice for tarpon of 60 pounds or more. This rod is designed to cast and presend flies with power and precision. Because it loads into the middle of the rod a bit, it's definitely what you'd call a "caster's rod" compared to our heavier Mega Taper saltwater rods. This three-piece travel version has a slightly stiffer tip in the top 24" of the rod compared to the two-piece version, yet retains the easy-to-load characteristics of a presentation casting rod, with ample power for fighting big fish.
