The new ratchet gear rod holder has the same features as the old rod holder such as all metal moving parts but now has 5 different positions from vertical to horizontal to choose from. When you get a fish on you can easily pull the rod straight up while maintaining pressure on the line in one motion!
Extra-strength parts that are easy to use even on a boat in rough water and the parts are made of marine grade materials.
The rod holder fits into Bert's Custom Tackle Track and rotates 70 Degrees with 2 clamp knobs that lock the rod holder into the groves in the track. This is great feature when you are fishing with multiple lines in the water.
The ratchet gear also uses a Positive Gear Locking System.
It has a stainless steel locking pin that goes across the complete gear face. The pin engages the 2 tapered sidewalls on the gear tooth-it doesn't touch the bottom of the gear tooth.
This means the pin centers in the gear tooth for greater strength, with a minimum of play and it compensates for wear.
