 >  >  > StrikeMaster Magnum Power Ice Augers

The StrikeMaster Magnum, formerly the Mag 2000, was designed to meet the needs of the most ardent ice fisherman. The VANDAR handle system creates a reliable, lightweight and tough platform for the redesigned polymer transmission. This transmission features a 40:1 gear ratio with heat treated gears to maximize the total power and performance of the heavy duty 2.0 HP Solo 2 cycle engine. The engine also features a rust-proof gas tank that allows the operator to see the gasoline level.

The auger shaft has been powder coated to reduce ice build-up. The single Boron steel chipper blade has been ground and honed to a razor sharp edge to provide high cutting speed and a comfortable break-through in up to 42 inches of solid ice without a shaft extension.

The VANDAR handle system is extremely lightweight and is constructed of super-high impact resistant nylon resin. The handle system provides a lightweight, strong, tough and low temperature resistant platform for the rotary thumb direct throttle to eliminate cold weather throttle freezing.

Additional features of these quality augers include:

  • Fuel primer and compression check for easy starting
  • Electronic ignition with automatic timing adjustment
  • Boron steel chipper blade
  • VANDAR handle system
  • Heat treated transmission gearing
  • Polymer gear case
  • 2.0 HP Solo, 37 cc 2 cycle engine
  • 24 oz fuel tank
  • 40:1 gear ratio
  • Powder coated paint
  • Blade guard
  • Optional extensions available for cutting through ice thicker than 42"

The 2 HP Solo engine carries a 2-year manufacturers warranty, all other parts carry a 1-year manufacturers warranty.

We stock these power augers in the 8 1/4" size StrikeMaster Model MP-825, and the 10 1/4" size StrikeMaster Model MP-1025.

Comments: After purchasing 2 of the new Jiffy legends and sending them both back I went with the Strike master mag. Have used it many times this season and am very happy with it. It starts easy and seems to be very durable. Many of my trips are by snowmobile over 20 miles one way and the auger fairs very well on the trips. I do have an otter ice shield and would recommend this product also to any one who hauls equipment with a sled.

weld broke on the bottom brace
Pros: Easy To Use, Functional, Durable, Easy To Maintain
Best Uses: Ice Fishing
Comments: Great machine and I think I may have had a bad weld on the bottom brace by the blade. Cut approximately 50 holes and then it cut slower. Found that the weld on the brace broke loose. Looking for another replacement. Great machine until the weld broke. Anyone else have similar problem?

Highly Recommend - Good Value
Pros: Durable, Light Weight, Easy To Use
Best Uses: Ice Fishing
Comments: The Strike Master Magnum 8.25 inch cuts very quickly with only a 2hp motor. The Solo German motor starts well and warms up fast. Fits in my Otter sled behind the snow mobile and weighs only 25lbs. For the value in the low $300's you can't beat this auger.

 Great Machine for the Money!!!
Pros: Functional, Easy To Use
Cons: Hidden Glitch in Gas Tank
Best Uses: Ice Fishing
Comments: Buying this product is a dream come true. I am very pleased with the power, performance, and ease of use. I had difficulty starting it and maintaining any prolong use until I figured out that the hose in the gas tank was flat against the gas cap therefore restricting suction within the tank to enable a sustain engine run. I pushed the hose away (further into the tank) from the gas cap, closed the gas cap and "Boo Yah, Purrs like a Kitten!"
Pros: Functional, Easy To Use, Easy To Maintain, Durable
Best Uses: Ice Fishing
Comments: Hi, On the second day of use, on the second pull, it would not rewind. Lots of pull cord was hanging out. I removed four screws and rewound the recoil. I did contact Strikemaster and they advised via video and over the phone there was an issue with the wrong grease and they pointed me to a video for a field repair and they sent me a new recoil assembly. Easy to use and easy to start. No problems since.
