Pros: Good value for the price
Best Uses: river & light saltwater
Comments: I have been river salmon fishing for 27 years. I have two G. Loomis IMX medium/medium heavy, three Lamiglas 8'1/2". I've just purchased a Triumph 81/2 Heavy action for river salmon & light surf fishing. It is a very good rod for the money. their craftmanship got way better than first and second year in Mexico.

 Great Rods
Pros: quality build, great support
Best Uses: fishing
Comments: I have 6 or 7 St Croix rods, two of which are the Triumph model, these are fantastic. Even though they are not the $300-400 rods they are well supported. I have had no problems with my first Triumph and have fished it several years now in northern Ontario. Very durable and a great price.
st sroix triumph 8'6 salmon steelhead
Pros: nice rod for the money, thank god for st croix servive and warrenty
Best Uses: river
Comments: not a bad rod but did have one get broke landing an average size salmon.
 Nice rod
Pros: sensitive
Cons: handle
Comments: The rod is nice and sensitive for stealhead fishing with light line. The rear portion of the handle is very long and you must wing the rod way in front of you if you are wearing a chest pack.
 very good value for money
Comments: Znakomita jakosc za niewielkie pieniadze. Lekki, sprezysty, wytrzymaly i jednoczesnie bardzo czuly. To cechy trudne do pogodzenia.

Triumph TRS86MHF2 Salmon Steelhead
Pros: Good value for the price, Accurate Casting, Easy To Transport, Wide casting weight range, Versatile MF action, Lightweight, Good Tip Action, Good balance for long rod
Best Uses: Pier Fishing, River Fishing, Casting Lures, Shore fishing
Comments: The TRS86MHF2 has a practical casting weight range from 1/4 oz through 1 oz. It seems to cast weights around 1/2-3/4 oz the best. For it's length and price, it's a long-distance cannon. It balances better than the old 8'6" IM-7 Shimano Clarus steelhead rods, good enough with 10-16 oz reels that it can be casted one-handed with reasonably little strain. The handle doesn't need to be counterweighted for it to be effective with jigging presentations. It bends mostly in the upper 24"-30" of the blank, has serious backbone through the midsection and basically no flex near the handle. This makes it appropriate for most artificial presentations but too stiff for many natural bait techniques. All the components and workmanship were flawless. This rod has only average sensitivity, but it's still good enough for most lure fishing within its casting weight range. I also haven't used this rod long enough to say if it's very durable. That's why I can only give it 4 stars.
