St. Croix Avid Fly Rods

Description

St. Croix Avid Fly Rods are versatile, moderate action fly rods that load smoothly and progressively down the blank for a silky casting stroke and exceptional feel. Featuring St. Croix's exclusive IPC technology and slim profile ferrules all cloaked in a sultry canteen green pearl, these rods are nothing short of classically elegant. These are built with St. Croix's SCIII graphite. This is an advanced, high-modulus graphite that delivers maximum durability and sensitivity. Not as fast as the SCIV graphite used on the Legend Ultras, the SCIII graphite blank material creates a rod with a smooth, light feel in the hand and superb power.

These rods feature Integrated Poly Curve tooling technology. The first process of its kind, IPC creates tapers that are a continuous curve from the tip to the butt of the rod - eliminating all weakening transition points. That means stronger rods and actions that cast with unprecedented smoothness. It's a remarkable performance breakthrough and it's exclusive to St. Croix.

Features of St. Croix Avid Fly Rods include:

  • Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) tooling technology
  • Premium, high-modulus SCIII graphite
  • Fuji Alconite stripper guides with black frames
  • Hard chrome, single-foot fly guides on 2 through 6 wt. models
  • Hard chrome snake guides on 7 wt. model
  • Uplocking, anodized aluminum reel seat with an ebony wood insert on 2 through 6 wt. models
  • Uplocking, anodized aluminum reel seat on 7 wt. model
  • Select-grade cork handle
  • Includes an attractive 1000 Denier nylon covered rod case with a divided polypropylene liner
  • Lifetime limited manufacturer's warranty

St. Croix Avid Fly Rods are made in the U.S.A.

Hack

 Good, light fly rod.
Pros: Sensitive, Lightweight, Easy To Transport
Best Uses: River Fishing, Small Fish, Fly Fishing
Comments: I bought this rod for fishing small, brushy streams in New Mexico. I was hoping to find something less expensive, but, on my one trip out with it, it seems just the ticket. Light and responsive. Seems well made.

Best fly rod on the market
Pros: Easy To Transport, Sensitive, Flexible, Good Tip Action, Durable, Accurate Casting
Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Small Fish, River Fishing
Comments: I bought my 6' from Fish USA because they had the best price [...]. It is the finest fly rod I have. Roll cast? piece of cake. Strong? I landed a 17 3/4" brook trout on it. Sensitive? I caught a 4" native brook trout on it. Again, the best on the market. And, American made.

Pros: Easy To Transport, Sensitive, Durable, Accurate Casting, Flexible, Good Tip Action
Best Uses: Smallmouth to Rainbows
Comments: I've been fly fishing for over 30yrs. and this is by far the best rod I've ever owned. After purchasing this rod (9'6wt) I sold I all my "high end" rods. This rod out preformed them all - hands down. From Smallmouth Bass to Tailwater Rainbows this rod has the power and sensitivity to handle any situtation.
