St. Croix Avid Salmon & Steelhead Spinning Rods

St. Croix Avid Salmon & Steelhead Spinning Rods have been redesigned from the ground up. This series has been re-engineered with St. Croix's IPC technology, delivering a new standard of strength and durability with lightness and sensitivity that makes the Avid an outstanding value.

Olympia, Wa
excellent rod for the money!!!!
Pros: Durable, Accurate Casting, Made in the USA, Light weight but powerful, Sensitive, Quality action, Good Tip Action
Best Uses: Salmon and steelhead, River Fishing
Comments: I can say that I own more than a few high-end salmon and steelhead rods, and can say the latest avid spinning rods are SUPER!! I own and fish rods that cost more than double the price and I tend to grab my 9'6" MLF spinning more often than any rod in my rod rack. I would recommend teaming it with a quality spinning real (front drag) and get to the river!! I tend to use this rod most when I am restricted to one rod and will be fishing more than one technique. (I refuse to hike a northwest river with more than one rod!) I own several rods made by gloomis and the latest gearrods built by Sage and enjoy fishing them, but when I am on foot and hunting salmon and steelhead, you will find me fishing my Avid!!
New Jersey I fish all eastern states
St. Croix, Name says it all !!!
Pros: Easy To Transport, Sensitive, Durable, Lifetime warrenty, Flexible, Accurate Casting, Good Tip Action
Cons: Breaks Easily, Expensive, Extream care to handle, Hard To Transport
Best Uses: River Fishing, Big fish light line, Great action from rod, Large Fish
Comments: I fish with it!!! Long hard days and nights. I also troll as well as cast and retreave. I have cought 5 lb. small mouth and 6 to 7 lb. Northern pike on 4 lb. test, no exaderaton. I use Berkly low vis green xl for casting and xt for trolling. I keep 3 spools for what I want to do with it that day. Love the rod. My fishing partner just bought one. I've had mine for nearly 6 or 7 years.

Avid rod for an avid fisherman!
Pros: Good Tip Action, Flexible, Accurate Casting, Easy To Transport, Sensitive, Durable
Cons: Eyelet too small
Best Uses: Large Fish, River Fishing
Comments: The only problem I had was my last guide continually froze more than my buddys Lamiglas.Size is smaller. I replaced it and have no adverse effects. Love this rod! Sensitivity is amazing. Learning to trust it more every time out. For smaller streams thinking about ordering another in smaller size. I have the 9 and 1/2 footer
