This Stik is not Ugly
Pros: Great tip action
Comments: I purchased this rod for Salmon fishing.. I had a 10.6 ft Daiwa that snapped in half in my hands.. I used my 7ft spinning Ugly as a back up for the day. A 7ft spinning Ugly Stik is not recommended for a 20lb King, it performed very well, bent like hell, did not break, on 12lb line too. I bought this 8.6 ft Ugly Lite.. Tip sensitivity excellent, overall flex- excellent.. enough spine strength to offer that perfect balance (for me) lots of rod flex, great fight.. Daiwa also replaced the broken rod,, I bought a DXS 9.6 ft.. Compared to the Ugly, the Daiwa is on the bench.. it's too stout.. more suited to light surf fishing... Well done Shakespeare!! you have won this battle in the Salmon Rod market hands down in my view...

 Disappointed for the first time
Pros: Good Tip Action, Sensitive, Accurate Casting
Cons: Poor Construction
Best Uses: River Fishing
Comments: I have owned many Ugly Stiks over the years and this is the first time I've been disappointed. The rod is exactly what I hoped it would be as far as action and sensitivity. I fish on average around 4-5 days a week and for the the first couple of weeks I was thoroughly enjoying using my new Ugly Stik Salmon/Steelhead Noodle Rod. Then I noticed something that troubled me. The top five stainless steel line guides were beginning to get grooves in them. I was only using 8 pound Seaguar Fluorocarbon as my mainline. Ten sessions and already line guide wear? Totally unacceptable. This is the first time that I could not recommend an Ugly Stik.

 quality,performance,price can't be beat
Pros: Durable, Won't break, Easy To Transport, Flexible, Sensitive, Great tip action
Cons: Can't think of any
Best Uses: River Fishing, Large Fish
Comments: You can't go wrong with an Ugly Stik. I matched it with an Okuma Salina reel and it couldn't be better for all the rivers I fish around here. I've got a few Shakespeare rods now and for good reason, they are awesome. This rod will put up with just about anything. I got this one just in time for winter steelhead. can't wait til the summer chromies come through. And the silvers and the chum in the late fall, this rod will be right there with me.

 "Excellent Salmon River Pole"
Pros: Easy To Transport, Good Tip Action, Durable, Accurate Casting, Good for all day fishing, Sensitive, Flexible, Excellent salmon pole
Cons: Butt grip slite to long
Best Uses: River Fishing, Large Fish
Comments: Took the Ugly Stik Lite model SPS 1186-2M to Salmon River,NY. And the pole handled very well, four full rainy days of river fishing and not one problem excellent poles, was able to bring in a 36" king with out a problem but the, spider wire did break on me twice and the pole held up to its job. Me and my fiance had a great time, she was a trooper fishing by my side, Nothing like a salmon takeing off down stream when he's hooked and your hopeing your equipment will do its job at the time needed. Just wish the butt grip was a little shorter a bit to long with rain gear on. I loved my trip and me and my Ugly Stik will be back. (P.S. and my girl)
