Ross Fly Reels The Ross Evolution LT Fly Reel is an updated version of the original Ross Evolution series which was unquestionably one of the finest fly reels ever produced. The Evolution LT large arbor fly reel is a machining masterpiece and the lightest in its class. The Evolution LT is fitted with an aluminum spool cap, aluminum drag knob and aluminum escapement cover. Ross customers have been asking for more metal in their fly reel and that is exactly what they are going to get! To keep the weight in check with these improvements, we have also added ventilation to the spool and the frame, allowing for the addition of metal components with no measurable weight increase.

The Ross Evolution LT series is designed for those anglers who appreciate both art and function. The cosmetic innovation and precision workmanship of the Evolution LT series is only surpassed by its drag system which is precise and sensitive - capable of protecting the lightest tippets even when battling world-class fish. To guarantee the level of dependability consumers have come to expect from all Ross products, the Evolution LT series has been designed with a triple redundancy drag system, providing three backup systems to ensure dependability under the most demanding conditions.

Custom engraving is available on all Ross USA reels. If you would like to have your reel engraved, please call us at 800-922-1219 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST to place your order. An engraving fee of $30.00 will be charged in addition to the cost of the reel.

Additional features of the Ross Evolution LT Fly Reels include:

  • 6061-T6 proprietary aluminum alloy spool and reel
  • Delrin 500AF teflon impregnated/aluminum drag system
  • Fully ventilated, balanced spool and frame
  • Perfect ratio of spool width to arbor diameter
  • Easy retreive direction conversion
  • Seamless transition between line-in and drag engagement (no start-up friction)

 Best deal
Pros: light weight, Smooth Drag System, Durable, perfect size arbor
Comments: This is my first Ross reel, very smooth drag system, well made a great value for the money when I compare to the other reels I've owned. With the special offer of quality fly line included, Fish USA has the best deal.
Trout Hunter
Almost too light!
Pros: Durable, Reliable, Smooth Drag System, Smooth Reeling
Cons: Balance weight
Best Uses: Fly Fishing, River Fishing
Comments: I love this reel but I wished I had gotten the next size up for my 9'-0" 5 wt. Z-Axis. The #2 doesn't seem to have enough weight to balance the rod correctly. It would probably balance better with an 8'-6" rod.
Western Mass.
 Gorgeous in Green
Pros: Smooth Drag System, Durable, Smooth Reeling
Cons: It's fairly expensive
Best Uses: Fly Fishing
Comments: After many years of using "classic" reels for my 4 and 5-weight rods, I decided I wanted a large arbor reel. The Ross Evolution LT stood out for its lightness, the smoothness of its drag system, and because it's available in an anodized green finish that looks very nice with my Winston WT and LT rods. After a month's use I've been very pleased with the reel on all accounts.
Very Nice Light Reel
Pros: Reliable, Smooth Reeling, Durable, Line Doesn't Tangle, Smooth Drag System
Best Uses: River Fishing, Fly Fishing
Comments: I've owned the original Evolution and now have the very latest Evolution LT size 2.0 in green color and its a perfect compliment to my Sage Z-axis 590-4. With the Scientific Angler GPX trout WF 5 wt. fly line, this is by far the best outfit I've ever had. A very well balanced outfit. The Evolution is a very ligth, smooth and nicely made reel. The easy, large drag control is a huge plus. The sound is great too, classic. I've yet to have any probem with my other 2 Evolution reels and don't expect to have any problems with this new one.

Comments: Very well machined, lightweight, durable anodization, great colors, visibly pleasing, the incoming and outgoing clickers are different tones. Clickers are not removable.
