PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line

Description

PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line is not affected by saltwater, UV rays, or most chemicals and solvents. The life of PowerPro line is much longer than monofilament lines (as a rule of thumb, it lasts five times the life of monofilament line). In fact, depending on how much and where you fish, PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line could last two to three fishing seasons or longer. With PowerPro, you have more fish in the boat, and less bait lost – you’ll find that you’re actually money ahead.

PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line is composed of polyethylene, a very slick plastic. In fact, the only material that is slicker than Spectra, is Teflon. Spectra, combined with PowerPro's Enhanced Body Technology, makes a rounder and smoother line, which is gentler on rod guides than the older style braids.

PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line has a specific gravity of 0.98 g/cc – just a hair lighter than water. Unlike heavier nylon and Dacron lines that sink, PowerPro will tend to stay at the surface. This means that you’ll get faster control of your fish after a strike with less belly in the line.

Features of PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line include:

  • Allows for longer, smoother casts
  • Enhances handling on any reel
  • Superior knot performance
  • Resists burying in the spool
  • Near zero stretch
  • Incredible strength - 10X stronger than steel
  • No reel memory
  • Won't cut guides

PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line is made in the U.S.A.

 PowerPro Braid
Comments: Casts great. Tough enough for river fishing.

 Best braid out there.
Pros: Reliable, Very durable, Tough as nails
Best Uses: Dipsey and Torpedo use, Better hookup with inline boards, Good knot strength that holds when used with other lines (mono, core, copper, etc.)
Comments: Problem free and attaches to other lines and terminal uses with great knot strength. It doesn't "breakdown" like other braids do after a while and it lasts longer. Most charts for depth control are based upon the properties this line has. I have never had trouble with it digging into itself.

New to me, possibly addicted
Pros: light, Casts MUCH longer, My 30# line almost invisible
Comments: I like this. The green 30# line was nearly invisible to me where I was casting. Maybe invisible to the four fish I hooked two days ago, or maybe they didn't care--I've heard that Salmon aren't finicky about lines. Per the chart, its diameter equivalent in monofilament is 8#. I could cast my 12 gm spinner maybe 15% further than with 12# mono. I used a 12# mono leader briefly, but when that finally broke from a snag, I tied the PowerPro to the barrel swivel of my lure. On the next snag, after a few of the classic maneuvers people use to un-snag, I pulled on the line slowly and my lure came free with only a straightened hook. I wish I had this line before I lost all those pricey Blue Fox Vibrax spinners! Power pro provides nice feel of the spinner action. When the throbbing stopped, I knew I would have no latency in response to setting the hook. It doesn't stretch like mono.

 Super Line
Pros: Super strong and thin, strong hi vis
Cons: None found yet
Best Uses: Landing fish
Comments: I really am impressed with this line. It spools onto the reel very easily and casts like silk. Very sensitive and no stretch, so hook sets are short and quick. Small diameter means you can use very light tackle and still load the spool with enough yardage.
 Death on Large Brrok Trout
Pros: Very strong but fine, invisable in the water, casts very light lures, increased line capacity, increased casting distance
Cons: None found yet
Best Uses: Trolling, fishing in very clear fresh water
Comments: Tested this out in the clear waters on Lake Nipigon for trophy brook trout on reefs. It is hands down the best line I have ever used. Line allowed me to cast to the reefs from long distance and not spook the trout.

 PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line
Pros: Easy to Cast, Abrasion resistant, Almost No Memory
Comments: Very easy to use, durable line. I switched from mono to high vis yellow 15lbs and I'll never go back! No more dealing with mono rats nests every few casts. Color fades quickly but hasn't effected anything.

 PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line
Pros: Casts MUCH longer, Super strong and thin
Cons: it's a bit spendy
Comments: I've used this line in weight ratings 8 - 50 lbs and all have been superior to any other brand or type of line I've used. Improved casting distance, durability, all the claims made for this product are true in my experience with it.

Best fishing line I have ever used!
Pros: Easy to Cast, Great hook setting capability, You feel every bite
Comments: This is the best line I have ever used! I put a spool of this stuff on both my wife and my new Shimano Syncopate 4000 reels and new Ugly Stik GX2 rods for a trip of saltwater fishing in Galveston, TX Thanksgiving week. It casts so easily. It was a windy day November 29, 2013 and we had to change from 1 oz to 2 oz weights in order to get our live shrimp out to the fish. It was easy to keep the line tight and tangle free. The fishing was so fast and furious that we caught 24 black drums and sheepheads within 2 1/2 hours on live shrimp. We could feel every bite no matter how windy or how light the fish were biting. Using the swivels I also purchased from FishUSA.com also made it quick to make the needed changes for the conditions. We only lost 1 fish the entire trip and that was because all three poles got hit at once on a couple of occasions and the hook did not set on the reel I was still using mono fishing line on. We released all but 5 black drum which we kept to fillet. Once you go Power Pro there is no turning back. I will never go back to mono again. Well worth the money.

Great line, thanks for the great service..
Pros: Long life makes it a good
Cons: I don't know of any
Best Uses: Salt Water
Comments: It is actually the first time I've purchased the PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line and it's definitely worth every penny. It doesn't scare the fish, and although I've lost a big Bluefish last week I still can say it is a very durable and strong line despite other lines I've used in the past. I dearly recommend this product.

 Power Pro braided line
Cons: I don't know of any
Best Uses: everything
Comments: I started using Power Pro braided line in 2005 and will never go back to mono for the following reasons: It allows for longer, smoother casts It enhances handling on my reel It has superior knot performance It resists burying in the spool It has near zero stretch It has incredible strength - 10X stronger than steel There is no reel memory....I never have to respool due to the line coming off the reel like a slinky Won't cut guides

Extremely good line, limited stretch, great feel, trolls deep
Pros: Casts MUCH longer, Trolls deep, Super strong and thin, Much more line on spool, Loses fewer fish, Deep Jigging, small diameter, Sensitive, Abrasion resistant, increased line capacity, Tremendous sensitivity
Best Uses: trolling, casting, jigging
Comments: PowerPro braided spectra line is extremely good line, with limited stretch and great feel. Because of the relatively small diameter, it trolls deeper than than equivalent strength mono. It casts farther than mono. Because of the very limited stretch, you will feel what your lures are doing and can feel exactly what fish are doing to your lure. There are a few negatives you should be aware of: 1) When filling a reel this line will not stretch enough to "grab" the spool so you must either tie to a pin or start with a few feet of mono. 2) This line can be damaged if it gets kinked, as can happen in a backlash & backlashes are harder to get out. 3) The line will cut you when under tension.

 Perfect value for the money
Pros: Strong, Good For Variety Of Fish, Best line for the money
Cons: It doesn't stretch
Best Uses: Fresh Water, Trolling
Comments: I've been using PowerPro for more than three years. It's very strong and I know that I can rely on it. However, in Russia you must be very careful, buying PowerPro, because there are a lot of fakes, that's why I order it from www.fishusa.com.

 Best Braided Overall
Best Uses: Salt Water, Shore Casting, Deep Water, Trolling, Jigging
Comments: I use 20# for shallow flounder, and 80# for deep water grouper. The 20# casts better than 6# mono. I'm hooked, will never go back to mono. All braided users know that smaller braided seems to catch on everything, worse than mono, and a loop or knot harder to get out than mono, but the size and limpness is worth the occational aggrevation.

Pros: Strong, Good For Variety Of Fish
Best Uses: Shore Casting, Jigging, Deep Water, Fresh Water, Salt Water
Comments: I have fished all over the world and used every line immaginable. The greatest aspect about PowerPro is the "sensitivity". No other line I have ever used transmits the slightest strike like this line. Once the hook is set by reeling and not jerking, you can forget about line breakage.

 great line
Pros: Strong, Casts MUCH longer, Almost No Memory, Tremendous sensitivity, Much more line on spool, Good For Variety Of Fish, Minimum twist effect, Irresistible to Fish
Cons: Needs to match reelrod, Easier to get tangles, Requires specific knots
Best Uses: Deep Water, Jigging, Fresh Water, I'v never ice fished, Shore Casting, Good for all uses, Trolling, Salt Water
Comments: angler needs to pay more attention to rod and reel specifics than with mono. Once you learn what works with braid then it is a far better line than mono IMO....casting distance is significantly improved. Sensitivity to bites is incredible. Spool will hold quite a bit more line than with mono, I fish inshore a lot around the space center in eastern central Florida and only respool yearly. I fish about 150-200 days per year (I'm retired). I'v caught many 30+ pound redish on a 260 penn slammer reel spooled with 15# powerpro with no problems. (great fun on light tackle)

 Excellent product, great hooksets!
Pros: Easy To Handle, Strong, Easy To Store, Good For Variety Of Fish
Best Uses: Fresh Water, Shore Casting, Deep Water, Trolling
Comments: I have used this product for walleye and Steelhead since purchasing it. Have already landed 2 steelhead and a 29" walleye using the product. These are wary fish and they fell to this product. Very confident in the hooksetting ability, strength, and castability. Just be careful putting your finger on the line when a fish is pulling on the other end. You may end up with a nice little cut, because of the strength and fine diameter of the line.

 Thinnest I found
Pros: Easy To Store, Good For Variety Of Fish, Looks Realistic, Strong, Easy To Handle
Best Uses: Trolling, Jigging, Shore Casting, Salt Water, Deep Water
Comments: This is thin line compared to others of the same test, and seems to be as strong. I do see that it gets lighter in color as you fish day after day. I have also seen it start to fray with use. But all braid seems to. I take 10 to 20 feet off all the time. No knot problems.

 Small diameter, virtually no stretch
Pros: Twice the life vs mono
Best Uses: Backing for lead core, Backing for copper wire, Dipsy Divers
Comments: Great line for mid level dipsy divers. Excellent choice for backing lead core (30 lb) and copper wire (50 lb). It’s so tough you will need high quality scissors to cut it. Standard fingernail clippers only crush it and won’t cut it.
