Best Uses

Good backbone!
About Me:
Used this for an overnight fishing off Catalina Island. Landed a fair sized halibut, a couple of rock fishes, and a 15 pound yellow tail. The rod has a good backbone and can surely handle bigger catches.
Pros: Good backbone; right length; value for money
Cons: none
Best Uses: Boat rod for offshore fishing
Awesome Rod!
Southern California
About Me:
The rod arrived just in time for a weekend fishing trip off Catalina Island. Paired the rod with my Shimano reel and boy, the rod performed more than I expected. Landed a couple of fair sized yellowtails, a huge halibut, and a pair of calico bass. Ordering a Penn Fathom Star Drag reel and hopefully, will yield more catch with this rod!
Pros: Bang for the buck; Just the right length
Cons: none
Best Uses: Offshore fishing
One of the best boat rods for the money
Albany, N.Y.
About Me:
The Penn rod came into its own when I was fishing in 480 ft saltwater off of Cape Cod., I matched it up with a Penn 309 casting reel and it wasn't much of a chore bringing cod and bottom dwellers up to the boat. Once in awhile I was lucky enough to catch two at a time and had a blast bringing them in (won the boat pool). I will also use this same outfit when I go to Florida this winter. Can't wait. Great rod.
Pros: really tough rod
Cons: makes fellow fishing buddies angry
Best Uses: all around heavy duty ocean rod
Penn Rampage rods
San Diego
About Me:
IFGA Record holder
If you fish hard, by that I mean a retired guy whom fishes 5 to six days a week you will love these rods. You can drop them, beat them and kill more fish with them. When one goes over the rail, bless it to Posidon and order another one here. You cannot go wrong with these work horses!
Pros: Tough
Cons: None
Best Uses: Fish killers
