Worden's Original Rooster Tails

Description

Worden's Original Rooster Tails were developed in the 1950's by Howard Worden as one of the most productive lures ever invented. The action of the spinning blade in combination with the colorful, pulsating hackle tail makes the Rooster Tail irresistible to any gamefish. It's a lure that consistently catches fish.

Original Rooster Tails are available in a large variety of colors and sizes so you are sure to find one just right for any fishing situation. The 1/16 and 1/24 ounce are great for panfish and small trout. The 1/8 and 1/6 ounce are great for trout and bass. The 1/4 and 3/8 ounce are great for larger trout, bass, and other game fish.

Please Note: Not all colors are available in all sizes.

Must-have trout spinner...but, disposable
Pros: Spins great when new, can be worked fast or slow, minimal line twist, irresistible to trout, enough weight to cast accurately
Cons: wears out quickly
Best Uses: trout!
Comments: The other reviews sum it up pretty well. This things spin like crazy out of the box, but foul easily and stop working well once they been used for awhile. Often, the shaft gets bent on fish or snags and I have to fight to get them spinning properly. Even straight ones seem to stop spinning. It is not uncommon for me to burn through 2 or 3 of them in a long day of stream fishing... However, I keep many on hand because they are invaluable. They get bit like crazy and they don't twist line like Panther Martins do. I'm mostly writing the review to pass along this tip-if you don't know which size to buy, go with the 1/8oz. It looks nearly identical to the 1/16oz, but is so much easier to cast on light spinning tackle. For colors? Every color I've tried has produced fish, so buy 'em all.

Pros: browns love them
Best Uses: Trout fishing
Comments: I troll them and cast i may catch as many as 4 or 5 out of one spot on a stream
spinner not spinning
Comments: if your spinner does not spin- bite the blade a bit flatter between your back teeth! this usually does the trick

 Great Trout lure
Pros: Strong, Easy To Handle, Great for trout
Comments: One of the best trout lures there is. For a smallish lure it has good weight so you get good casting distance and the blade spins well at different speeds. Also good for freshwater perch species too.

Good when they work
Pros: Good For Variety Of Fish, Irresistible to Fish
Cons: debree will mess up the spinner, blade don't always spin
Comments: I have used Rooster Tails for a long long time. They are my old stand by and I catch lots of fish on them. I could catch even more fish on them if I could get the blade to spin. Probably 40% of the time the blade don't spin and then you don't catch any fish. I have caught Perch, Walleye, Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, White Bass, and Northern on Rooster Tails

 Fish just love it
Pros: Irresistible to Fish, Easy To Handle, Good For Variety Of Fish, Easy To Store, Strong
Best Uses: Fresh Water
Comments: When you look at a Rooster Tail you wonder how in heck are fish attracted to this thing. Don't even think about it. Just tie one on and start using. I've been successful with largemouth and smallmouth bass, black perch, panfish, walleye, and especially trout. The rainbow and yellow color work best for me and I've used them in rivers, lakes and ponds. The perfect all around bait.

Best Uses: For rainbownbrown trout, Shore Casting, And redfin english perch, Fresh Water, Streams and lakes
Comments: I walk for hours going upstream on our small rivers the going is tough at times, forget waders just shots runners vest rod hat and polaroids One hour upstream equates 15 minutes return the best day was a few years back when a mate and I walked the Howqua River started at 6am and got back at 8pm, we saw 10lb trout, deer, paltypus wombats and snakes and yes we were completely stuffed ! But what a day !!

 The old standby
Pros: Easy To Store, Good For Variety Of Fish
Best Uses: Shore Casting, Fresh Water
Comments: There is a reason Worden's Original Rooster Tails have been able to hang around so long. They consistently catch a variety of fish. They are relatively inexpensive compared to other lures, and a small variety of sizes and colors in your tackle box is a nice insurance policy for those times when other methods aren't producing.

 A classic.
Pros: Good For Variety Of Fish, Irresistible to Fish
Cons: Limited Use
Best Uses: Fresh Water
Comments: I've not used this color before, but have come to really love a number of Rooster Tails. I use them for bream fishing (bluegill/crappie) and small largemouth bass. Might as well go home if fish are hitting the Rooster Tail. It's only "drawback" is that it's treble hook's easily snagged in waters w/ much vegetattion of underwater tree's/limbs.

My only go to lure
Pros: Caught 1' to 6lb bass, Easy To Store, Good For Variety Of Fish, Easy To Handle, Pickerel panfish love em, Great for trout, Irresistible to Fish, Use the 18 GRCA
Cons: 70 or 80 fish, Without skirt useless, Limited Use, The skirt falls off after
Best Uses: I drop them in bass bed, And wham, Fresh Water, Jigging, Deep Water, Shore Casting
Comments: Reel it fast down stream, or cast it straight across stream and swing it. Cast it down stream and swing across. The slower the better. I missed a big trout nce and then reeled in, put on power bait and let it sit, aha caught him....lol

Safety pin type Rooster Tail
Pros: Good For Variety Of Fish
Best Uses: Fresh Water
Comments: Rooster tails used to make and sell a safety pin style lure with the body on one side and the spinner on the other side of the pin, hook trailing the body. I like this lure and still have a couple in my tackle box. I like these lures because they don't twist your line when casting or trolling like the straight spinners do. Will "Rooster Tails"by Worden ever make these lures again? I caught a lot of fish with these lures in the past.

My go to for stream trout.
Pros: Fish Don't Escape, Irresistible to Fish, Good For Variety Of Fish, Easy To Handle, Easy To Store
Best Uses: Small to medium streams, Fresh Water, Shore Casting
Comments: When I need trout for the smoker or the freezer a chartreuse (if the water is discolored) or grey (if the water is clear)1/16-1/8 oz. roostertail is my weapon of choice. The rest of the time I'm a fly fisherman.
