Okuma Classic XP Levelwind Reel (from prior model)
Pros: Well made product.
Comments: Beautiful looking product. Haven't had an opportunity to use it yet. This reel having an machined anodized aluminum spool and two bearing system at such a reasonable price is an excellent bargain. The model I purchased (XP-202L) is well sized for trolling for up to medium size trout in the Eastern Sierras of California. On a paid troll fishing guide service at Lake Crowley in 2012, the guide used two of these Okuma reels on his trolling rods. These reels performed well when we hooked onto to trout.

Good for money, 1 little problem (from prior model)
Pros: Light weight reel, Looks good
Cons: Leader falls behind spool
Best Uses: Light trolling
Comments: I am from Malta, I use this product for light trolling in our ports, fish are anything from 700 grams to 4 or 5 kilo. I cant really say anything else about this reel, just light trolling. All round it is good for value for money. The gears are acceptable, it does seem quite durable, I am not sure what the corrosion will do to this reel, however I do wash my reels after every fishing trip. I will update in about 3 months. The only problem here is the following. 1. The reel says you can have "for example, do not know exact numbers" 300 yards of .30mm braid, I found this was incorrect, maybe I am using thick braid, I do not know know, however it seemed to be off by about 40 or 50 yards. I use climax braid, seems to be a good brand. 2. I use a 5 yard leader flora coated line, 37mm Vhard line from Sunline. The leader tends to fall behind the spool which is very hard to take out, if this happens to you do not panic! Simply unlock the reel so the spool is free, now "slowly" pull the leader gently "do not attempt to pull it out, just a little pressure on the line. Now with your thumb roll the spool outwards "as if you are letting out line" this will free the line. If this does not work you must open the reel. The problem here is that even when the leader comes out it may be damaged. Here in Malta I pay about 30 USD for 50 meters, not too happy about losing 6 meters every fishing trip if you know what I mean. I might remove more braid our of the spool, this may be causing the problem. Anyway, still good value, but I must figure out how to eliminate this problem otherwise I will not use for much longer.
