I like to make my own Salmon and Steelhead spinners. I make them for my Dad and a few buddies. I know it might be a bit spendy, but it would be nice to buy them in 25 or 50 hook packs. The treble hooks are sold that way.
Pros: There is a springiness to them, especially in the small to mid size hooks. (Salmon and Steelhead) I know I have a better hook-up to landing ratio with them.
Cons: They are not sold in bulk.
Best Uses: Whatever lure or water restrictions call for single hooks.

This is my favorite open-eye siwash hook for catch-and-release and meeting stream restrictions. The small barb is easily pinched, allowing you to meet barbless restrictions and the longer shank is makes it easier to remove from the fish. This hook is a kinder, gentler alternative for spoons and spinners.
Pros: Gentle on the fish, easy to install
Cons: Thrown hooks, longer shank may deflect smaller strikes

I change all the treble hooks in trout spoons to single siwash hooks. Better hook sets and fewer snags. Gamakatsu hooks are sharp out of the pack and strong.

I use them all the time - best on the market - for catch and release they can;t be beat. A very positive hook set and much stronger than the treble hooks they replace. I fish them in Alaska for everyhing from Rainbows, King Salmon, and even Halibut.
Pros: Easy to use, sharp, and a great all around hook.
Cons: none
Best Uses: none
