 Eagle Claw StarFire Rods
Pros: Durable, Great Product Love Them
Cons: None I know of
Best Uses: walleye trolling, Downrigger, dipsys. snap weighs, planner boards
Comments: I have used these rods for more than 15 years. I am replacing several 15 year old rods that are faded and dry rotted around the eyes. I use them on Lake Erie for trolling for walley's on the western basin.

Eagle Claw Downrigger and Dipsy Rods
Comments: I just bought the rods and have not yet used them. Most likely I will not use them until next May or June. If you would like to have me review them at that time I would be happy to do so. In the meantime I most likely will be looking to purchase other equipment from you and would very much appreciate the coupon. Please email me any information on products and sales.

The 10-ft rod performs very well.
Pros: Durable, Versatile- wally salmon, Good Tip Action
Cons: None I know of, Length can be awkward
Best Uses: River Fishing, Large Fish
Comments: Sensitive enough to use as deadline, trolling plugs, or bottom bouncers when wally fishing, and strong enough to use w downriggers when salmon fishing. Ten-ft length gets lures away from boat when wally fishing. I had a pair of these 10-ft rods for years and just bought a replacement when an improperly stored one bounced-off the boat in high waves and was lost to the depths. Great pole!

 Good value
Pros: Lightweight, Good Tip Action, Sensitive, Flexible
Cons: Breaks Easily
Best Uses: Ocean Fishing
Comments: Good bang for the buck. Never had a rod break like this, the reel can spin 360 degrees all the way around the handle of the rod?? Fish USA promply sent me a replacement- good service! I troll 4 of these rods for king salmon- they've worked well except for the 1 that broke.

 Eagle Claw Starfire Downrigger
Pros: Good Tip Action, Durable
Best Uses: Large Fish
Comments: 1st saw these on Great Lakes salmon charter boats - I've owned (and broken) other rods costing 3 times as much - now I have six and feel no reason to change. Flex is just right for downriggers and setting hook.

Very tough and great value
Pros: Durable, Good Tip Action, Easy To Transport
Best Uses: Large Fish
Comments: I'm not sure what this guy who wrote the first review did but I've been running these rods for several years on my downriggers and they've held up great. As far as I'm concerned you can't buy a better rod for the money. Great durability and action.

 Poor quality, save your money
Cons: Halves are unequal lenght, Breaks Easily, Poor Construction, Too Stiff
Best Uses: trolling
Comments: I bought this based on recommendations but IT BROKE on my first use. I've been trolling for years and never had a rod break like this. It broke on its first day of use when popping a release -crack. Other comlaints: the 2 halves are of unequal lenght (Well, they are equal now) which makes breakdown and storage more difficult; the rod doesn't load smoothly on a rigger. It seems to be a fast action with the bend in the end, not throughout the entire length. Don't waste your money, buy a Daiwa Heartland.

Don't let the price fool you!!!
Pros: Flexible, Sensitive, Good Tip Action, Durable
Best Uses: Ocean Fishing, Large Fish
Comments: They may not cost as much but don't let it fool you. I have always ran these rods for fishing in Alaska. They have great action and are very tough. I have used these rods to pull in 15 pound silvers all the way up to 50 pound kings. Not to mention even a 35 pound halibut. Great action and durable for all the abuse I give it!!!
