Great little reel
Pros: smooth free spool, smooth retrieve, elimination of line twist and coiling, Free wheel button is a nice function, nice double handle
Cons: will over run and build a bird nest., star drag extremely touchy
Best Uses: pan fish, jigging
Comments: I like the reels. Super smooth. If you work the drag a little and wear it in , it will work smooth enough. But super fast when you push the release button. Gets down fast, also the retrieve is quick. For the cost you can hardle beat them.

Only have one now but......more next season!
Pros: push button free spooling, "easy to use", gear ratio line pick up, good price, Dont have to release the handle for drag to work, smooth retrieve, No line twist
Cons: weight is a bit more than I wish it was, freespool and drag are a bit touchy
Best Uses: ice fishing, night jigging beside boat
Comments: Over all a heck of a reel for the money in my opinion. I'll have at least 3 by first ice winter 2015. The sensitive adjustment for the freespool tension and drag are noticeable but are solid and constant once set.

Best inline reel I've used so far
Pros: Dont have to release the handle for drag to work, Clicker for use on jawjacker tipups, Free wheel button is a nice function
Best Uses: Panfish, Carp, Bass
Comments: Landed a 6lb carp my first time out. It fought harder than any fish I've ever hooked through the ice and the reel worked perfectly. No twists or bird nests. This will be my go to reel from now on.

Nice reel for the price
Pros: smooth free spool, No line twist, No icing up
Cons: drag is touchy
Comments: I used two of these reels all last year and love them, very smooth free spooling allows tear drops and tungsten jigs to get down fast, line stayed straight with no coiling or twisting, had hardly any icing problems. The drag is a little tricky to set right and needs to be adjusted from time to time. i plan on changing out all my spinning reels with these baby's.

 Cheaply Made
Pros: keeps line straight, decent gear ratio, nice double handle, not to cold on your hands
Cons: star drag extremely touchy, push button gets stuck, reel comes unlubricated
Comments: Works but has some flaws.... The drag is awful the push button can get stuck and the clicker is pretty uselelss as well. But it does keep your line from twisting up and you can land fish with it.

No Kinks
Pros: No Line Kinks
Cons: Drag Needs Improved
Comments: I bought 2 of these reels. One a reel / rod combo and then just another reel. On one of them the spool would not rotate freely. The problem was it wasn't assembled correctly. Under the spool there is round nut and it had come loose and was binding on the spool. After it was tightened all worked well. I checked the other reel and discovered that the same problem was about to crop up so tighten it up also. I agree the drag leaves a lot to be desired. I have to constantly keep adjusting it. That's not a big deal for me as I'm usually fishing for panfish and a perfectly operating drag isn't a big requirement. There are two things I really like about the reel. It free spools very easily allowing me to fish some tiny jigs and they still pull the line off the reel. The other thing is that this reel reduces kinks in the line almost enitrely. I have mine spooled with 2 & 4 lb test. If you decide to buy one get it from Fish USA. They had the best price....shipping was free, and super fast. Next year I may try one of the more expensive models. Overall I really like the reel and would recommend it.

 Eagle claw inline reel
Pros: smooth retieve, light, gear ratio
Cons: Exposed spool, short reel stand
Comments: Like the feel and control especially for the money. However if you palm the reel or use a pencil grip, like I do, you can't operate this reel. Also the reel stand is too short. If these two problems were addressed you would have a great reel with a lot of popular features.

 Eagle Claw inline ice reel
Pros: "easy to use"
Cons: None"
Comments: Ordered two (2) of these reels and received them quickly. I found simple online instructions to change the retrieve from left to right-handed, and after several outings, the reels have performed well. Little to no line twist so far. I have since ordered yet another reel.
 Eagle Claw Inline Reel
Pros: nice quality
Cons: left handed
Comments: Have used it twice since I got it ,ice fishing in extreme cold conditions. The drag was a little hard to adjust when bringing in a hooked fish but could have been a little frozen up. I really like it ,though I wish it was for right handed fisherman. Im sure you could take the time to change it over but haven't done so yet. Overall the quality seems pretty good will see as winter continues with more trips to the hard water.

Nice Reel
Pros: no freezing
Cons: a little better free fall
Comments: I like it, liked it so much I purchased another within a week. The free spool feature is great, even with a small tear drop and split shot, it drops nicely, even to 30 to 35 feet. No more line twist, no freezing reels.

 suspect drag
Pros: straight line
Cons: poor drag
Comments: I recently purchased this reel. I like how easily it drops a tiny jig. And my line stays much straighter than with a spinning reel. There are a couple of things I don't like though. The drag is very hard to get just right. There is a fine line between being too much and totally loose. It is kind of jerky when applied. The other issue I have is because of the gearing on the left side it weighs the reel down. Causing the reel and pole to hang off center to the right. Not a big deal but something to think about. I would definitely recommend this reel and fishusa.

 Need better QC
Pros: features are good
Cons: need better QC, need better qc
Comments: Brought 4 of these reels before Christmas. Two of them already broken the first time i went fishing last weekend.( cannot reel in anymore). Like the features very much and order two replacenment Sunday. Hope these two reels are good , otherwise i will stop using EC inline reel. I live in Canada , it will cost me more to do warranty instead of buying two new ones. :(

 Decent ice reel
Pros: no line twist, smooth free spool
Cons: Lower quality gears
Comments: The first one I ordered was flawed but the repalcement seems fine. Repalcement service was excellent and fast! I've used it a couple times now on both trout and large bluegills in water as deep as 25' The free spool is very smooth be careful of overrun. The retreive speed is good enough to keep up wih the runs of trout and the drag is fairly smooth. I really like the reduced coil and no spin on lures.

worked well in cold weather
Pros: no freeze ups at -17 below
Comments: My two grandsons went fishing last week and 1 bought the Eagle Claw ECILIR inline ice reel, it was -17 degrees below 0 and he said it worked perfectly fine with no freeze ups. The other grandson used is open bail spinning reel and it froze up and he tried to thaw it out by breathing warm air on it, that was not the best thing to do,it stuck to his lip and tongue, after trying to warm it up they finially got it loose with the lose of some skin.

Eagle Claw vs Frabill
Pros: push button free spooling, good price, elimination of line twist and coiling
Cons: drag not super smooth
Comments: This is a nice, affordable inline reel for those looking to switch from spinning reels for ice fishing. The drag is not super smooth but it works well enough that I iced a 25" northern with 2 lb. test while jigging for panfish. The push button free spool works great once you've adjusted it properly. Tungsten jigs go down fast without line twist or coiling. Upon inspection this is the exact same reel guts and housing as the Frabill 261. The differences being a two handle crank retrieve on the EC vs. a one handle on the Frabill and a different paint job and slightly different drag adjustment star. I will not be going back to spinning reels for pan fish through the ice. The push button free spooling without line twist has me sold. And as there are gears it is a faster retrieve than a 1:1 retrieve as the Genz ice spooler. This reel is the better deal than the Frabill but the Frabill more resembles a spinning reel having a one handle retrieve and the EC with two handles is more like a bait cast. I will give this reel a 5 fish rating for functionality and price with hopes an improvement will be made to the drag system in the future.

 Eagle Claw VS. Black Betty
Pros: free wheel works fine
Cons: choppy drag
Comments: eagle claw and black betty both do not have very smoth drag. Black betty feels heavier, but cant tell because the box does not tell the weight and the black betty website does not tell the weight either. Like the eagle claw better and got another one on order from fishusa. For 80.00 bucks difference its a no brainer, get the eagle claw.
