Description

Daiichi Salmon Egg Hooks were developed for fishing with bait, but are now also being used for artificial bait. Known as an egg hook, this style is generally used by trout and anglers using natural salmon eggs as bait. Today's fly tiers create artificial egg patterns to simulate salmon eggs and many prefer this hook style because the up-eye does not close off the hook gape and the angle of pull enhances hook-ups.

With their exceptionally high-carbon steel construction, Daiichi hooks exhibit correct shapeness, extreme hardness and razor-sharp points. The lengthy tempering process each hook undergoes gives them just the right amount of flex, so they hold fast when under heavy pressure. And for maximum effectiveness, the barbs on Daiichi hooks only cut into 40% of the hook's wire diameter. This low profile barb design offers quick penetration.

Features of Daiichi D16Z Bleeding Bait Wide Gap Octopus Hooks include:

  • Bleeding Bait red finish
  • Salmon Egg style
  • Up eye
  • Low-profile barb
  • High carbon steel
  • Ultra-sharp point

Each package contains 10 hooks.

 Sharp
Comments: Extremely sharp hook which makes hook sets with light line much easier. #12-14's are the only hooks I use for trout fishing with bait. These hard to find hooks are always available at FishUSA for a great price.

 not what I expected
Best Uses: Fresh Water, Fly fishing
Comments: I bought these expecting to tie egg patterns for Kings and Steelhead in Lake Ontario Tribs. the hooks are razor sharp as described, but they are small for the size # as compared to other hooks and the wire is not what I would trust for hard charging steelies. I will use these to tie emergers and nymphs for my inland stream fishing and expect them to excel in that environment.

 strong and sharp!
Pros: Durable, Functional, Easy To Use
Best Uses: Fresh Water
Comments: I'm new to ice fishing, but not fishing for big fish. I bought these to use while ice fishing. I replaced factory hooks on jig spoons with these and the red hook really worked to attract more fish. I'll try them on the streams for steelhead very soon. I'm sold!
