Date Fished: 7-24-08
Location: 1/2 Miles East of first turn bouy N. of Tol Light

     7/25/2008 12:29:47 PM   Report ID: 22281

Report: Left BVYC about 6:00 PM wandered a little and ended up 1/4 to 1/2 mile east of first turn bouy with 3 other boats. (Mathews Bait tip, Thank You).

Caught a 16" Walleye on first cast. On bottom, first movement after setting bail. Working the swing. This was the mode for most of the fish caught.

Full crawler, double hook, homemade weapon w/ Gold medium large blade. 3 guys brought home 12, lost 6 on broken lines and fish off at the boat. Bite was light, but not short. Most fish on front hook. Only one on bottom bouncer which is unusual?

The 12 came on 1 drift W SW (never doubled back) for 2 - 2 1/2 hours and then came back in the dark. Had solid bite and fish on then off on last cast as well. They are still there.

Pretty good breeze after we got there and for bumpy ride back to Toledo.

Very few junk fish, maybe 6 other white bass and sheep all night.

Best I have done in my half dozen trips this year. Been a frustrating season. Long way from Toledo, but time is running out.

Report: Went out Sat. evening and Sun. morning. With the unsure weather forecast wanted to stay in close. Heard a report about all the headboats fishing around "H" can all week and doing well. Ran over there and caught a couple of eyes inside the range Sat. evening. Ran over to "G" and then to "H" to see if there were any perch in the area. Caught a few perch and then ran back to the dock just before dark. Tried "H" can Sun. morning, but the range was closed so had to stay south of the range. No eyes. All of the head boats were there, but heard they did not do well. Ran back over around "F" can after the rain and caught 35 perch between 3 guys in about 2 or 2-1/2 hours.

Report: Launched from Sterling on Saturday morning at 8:30 am and fished until 2:30. Fished the Ohio/Mich line from Boles to the can by Stoney point. Varied our depths from 22-27 FOW. Did nothing but drift and cast with every color combination. Water was a little cleaner towards the Ohio border but were not marking many schools. All in all.....skunked for the first time this year for the 3 of us. Talked to several others with one or two fish at max. Surface temp was 74 which may mean fish are moving into Ca/Oh waters. I hope that is not the case. Too early to be starting my salmon season.

Report: As a follow up to my previous post and comment about missing a class of 15 to 16" fish. Went back out Sunday with my two other daughters and my wife. We only caught two keepers. One was just over 15" and the other close to 20" Lot's of sheep head and white bass.

We also did catch 3 very small walleye, maybe 12". I have never caught one that small and we caught 3 in one day. 2 togehter and one in a different spot. All fish on gold weapons either casting or bottom bouncers. No other color got a bite. We had a very large something break a 8 lb leader / weapon as well.

Maybe the fish are out there, just the crazy spring and current weather has them scattered?

Girls had fun. I had a Great Fathers Day.

Report: I got out for about an hour and a half Sunday afternoon. Caught a couple silver bass and a couple broke our lines (probably big sheep or cats). Then the wind and clouds picked up, so we left. We were drifting in about 24-25 ft. slow going, but it was 12:30pm. Will try again at a better time.

Report: The fishing has been slow as anyone can tell by this site. Brought home three today with one large cat and one nice perch. Threw back lots of Sheephead including two monsters.

South of the gravel pit about a mile. Hammered gold and willow leaf shape got the walley. Sheephead love purple. I know everyone wants to tell about their quick limits, but when times are slow and gas is high, is when we need this site more than ever. Please submit a report.

In my opinion, we are missing a couple of classes. Most are 20 to 22 instead of most being 15, 16 and 17. I am concerned.
